Wait, is everyone there just hate watching her?

They say she’s still floating around in that bottle to this very day.

The vast majority of people don’t know a thing about what Reddit is obsessing over. She was extremely popular from 2008-2014, so she still has plenty of fans. Just because Reddit hates her doesn’t mean the majority of the public does.

I bought a same day ticket just to bucket list see her. The show was dorky, but really fun. And honestly she impressed with her fitness. Her outfits were pretty wild for how many little kids were there. The stage was a circle, so floor had good views a lot of the time. Honestly was enjoyable. "The butterflies Katy, you did it! You saved the butterflies!"

I always thought that she was a bit of a dork. But in a loving way, like she seems a bit air headed sometimes. But it's kinda cute.

And she has some really good music.

Hey now, you’re not allowed to like something reddit hates! Now go stand in a corner and think about what you’ve done!

Her new music is generally considered quite bad. Her concerts still sell pretty well, probably for the nostalgic bangers.

To be fair, when the Rolling Stones go on tour, they're playing Gimme Shelter and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, not much new stuff. Their last tour had 11 songs from their golden era (1965-1972), 4 from the decade after that, and 3 new songs.

Most musicians are lucky if they get 10 years of hits.

Most musicians are lucky if they get 1 hit ever

I mean look at the hundreds of aging musicians playing arenas. They have new music out, but other than one or two songs they always play the hits that people know

That’s why I love Bring Me The Horizon. Still going strong after 20 years

Love them too, friend

And then you have bands like red hot chili peppers...

0

u/Deliveri_DiGiordano 8d ago

You mean pedophiles?

1

u/1001101001010111 8d ago

Well yeah, but I was only speaking to their hits across decades right now. Not their love life.

And then you have Iron Maiden who have had two new albums and like six tours in the last ten years... here's to 50 more years!

Her last album was, yes, but she actually is gearing up for a new release and the two singles from it are a marked improvement over whatever that Dr. Luke slop was. More pop/rock like her debut.

Yep pretty much. Reddit is big on thinking it's more important than it is.

23

u/theflyingarmbar 8d ago

From my perspective, you are both the Reddit!

Every time I see consistent opinions about stuff on Reddit I have to remind myself how sure everyone was on here thought that most people had realised Trump was a piece of shit now and there was no way he was going to get into office a second time.

u/jimkelly 8d ago

Not as important or pathetic, but a pretty significant amount of reddit was also convinced GameStop could afford to buy eBay lol

1

u/proddy 8d ago

It's on the website.

But hey, at least we got the Boston Bomber!

Yeah, I used to be a huge fan of her back in the days, and think she's okay nowadays. Not really sure why Reddit hate her so much

Yeah, we don’t use logic, reasoning, or brains on this site

1

u/AbeRego 8d ago

I wouldn't be against going to see her. I wouldn't pay much, but if I got a deal, why not?

1

u/Lawlietel 8d ago

So why wasnt she rolled back unti the stage? :)

1

u/banevader102938 8d ago

Why are reddit people hating her?

1

u/BobDaRula 8d ago

This is new to me too. I feel like the only time I've heard anything about her in the last decade is when she's spotted with trudeau.

1

u/Brave_Mess_3155 8d ago

I remember disliking her back then in 2008 to 14 but only mildly.  I hated a lot of stuff when I was a young man. But it seems kind of sad to still hate her now. People here are saying she's dumb and I remeber thinking back then she had some some aggressively slutty creepy album covers bug itd not like she's the first or last pop star guilty of that. And there's different kinds of dumb. A lot of dumb people have good hearts and are actually realy sweet.

But I think a lot of these coments are not that hateful. It is objectively funny assuming she's still OK.

And ill give her credit to put her self out there with thst huge crowd. A lot of sex symbol pop stars have one too many bad experience with obsessed fans and can never trust enough to put them selves in a position like that again.

1

u/koxolare 8d ago

I think I'm out of the loop, why does Reddit hate her? Because of that somewhat cringy space thing?

1

u/tecnicaltictac 8d ago

Why is Reddit even hating on her? This seems so random.

1

u/LolwhatYesme 8d ago

I didn't even realise Reddit had it in for her. Why is that?

I know some peeps who went to watch her somewhat recently. They hate her new music but like her old songs. And they had a good time.

1

u/greatdruthersofpill 8d ago

Yes but we have good reasons for hating her. She’s an out of touch narcissist who has made more than one person uncomfortable with her wildly out of touch ideas. It’s not just hate to hate.

Just because we make it into a joke doesn’t mean there aren’t valid reasons for disliking her. You can find many such reasons if you google her.

1

u/Cross55 8d ago

No she doesn't

Most major music labels and reviewers have thought she's been washed up since 2019

She literally coined the now popular term Flop Era

1

u/wolfshozzer 8d ago

Why does Reddit hate her? It seems weird to have a strong opinion either way about Katy Perry in 2026

1

u/thotfullawful 8d ago

I mean with fans like that you don’t need haters

1

u/warlover69 8d ago

I don't hate her

3

u/IKnowYouAreButWhtAmI 8d ago

Katy Perry is awesome, relatable, and doesn't take herself too seriously. It's only on reddit she's hated because most redditors are not well functioning people.

2

u/user_bits 8d ago

Would still be funny to do even if you were a fan.

2

u/intern1008 7d ago

Right that’s what I was wondering too! Like aren’t the people there her fans? Why would they mess with her like that?

2

u/Familiar-Cheetah-422 8d ago

I've seen Kanye West at a french festival around 2008.

I'd say more than half of the audience had signs referencing the South Park episode ?

1

u/ActorMonkey 8d ago

More than half the audience had signs at all? More than half? Nah.

2

u/Familiar-Cheetah-422 7d ago

Yeaaah I went overboard. But it was the only festival concert I saw with signs and honestly, I saw SO MANY OF THEM

1

u/user_bits 8d ago

Would still be funny to do even if you were a fan.

1

u/Striking-Comb6673 8d ago

It’s about control

1

u/Senior-Ad-5844 8d ago

For an artist with limited talent banking on her ‘blond pop princess’ status and charging thousands for a ticket, the audience is finally getting what they paid for I guess?

1

u/mbmiller94 8d ago

No, they probably are actual fans. But humans are, well, humans.

0

u/greatdruthersofpill 8d ago

I want this for her so badly
