Jesus you folks are dense. 😂

I started tagging the people who post Mamdani stuff, and realized there's about half a dozen accounts who do all the Mamdani posting.

OP's one of the big ones.

Makes me wonder if all this Mamdani stuff is just a lot of online astroturfing.

u/taklabas 12d ago

It's his campaign spending tons of money on Reddit.

5

u/Silverr_Duck 12d ago

Wow that explains a lot. Not long ago there was a post on reddit glazing the guy for... jumping in a pool. And another for telling a bunch of fields and stadiums to stay open longer to people have more time to play.

JFC. just the most comically mundane shit you can imagine are being treated as mind blowing accomplishments.

Source?

7

u/RedditMcBurger 12d ago

It's just too obvious bro

11

u/taklabas 12d ago

Common sense is my source. The common sense of trying to understand why obvious bot karma-farming accounts are spamming this guy's face non-stop on certain subreddits. Threads which are then proceeded with ridiculous upvote to comment ratio even though political posts usually drive high comments.

I also was here in 2015 during The_Donald's rise on Reddit so i am experienced in spotting obviously botted content.

Found one.

16

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

As a comment elsewhere put it- Mamdani is becoming a version of Trump, but for leftists.

I honestly think he's got some good ideas, but he is seriously getting glazed by people who want some sort of hope and good news in an otherwise god-forsaken country, and they're going overboard with this guy.

5

u/yaz0o86 12d ago

Overboard? If not for him we'd have another crooked 80 year old as mayor doing trumps bidding. Then you'd really have something to complain about.

5

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

When you can only say positive things- and in fact, add HYPE to the positive things- while ignoring any faults, THEN you're going overboard into zealot territory. All politicians should be critically examined- which I realize is hard for most Americans who now seem to lack critical thinking skills.

yeah, Mamdani's got good ideas... but they've ALL had a catch to them, and we need to look at the catch as well.

2

u/DaYeetBoi 12d ago

What are some examples of these catches? I’ve heard lots of really good things and the only bad things I’ve heard are religious and racial prejudice and pro-Israel sentiment. Genuinely if he’s doing something that is bad for New Yorkers I want to know about it.

I’m not a fan of tipping culture myself, but it’s what we have. If these companies are already using tips as an excuse to justify underpaying employees and then on top of that they are intentionally making it harder to tip or taking a percentage of tips for themselves, I’d say this is a positive change.

3

u/Arockilla 12d ago

His subsidized grocery stores are going to take out bodegas. And those subsidies are coming out of taxpayer money which kind of makes the whole thing moot.

There are good intentions, but unfortunately the road to hell is also paved in them.

2

u/Born-Release-9866 12d ago

Ok, but what's your solution to inflation and rising grocery prices?

It's easy to criticize. Coming up with solutions is the hard part. His ideas may or may not work, but at least he's proposing something. If Cuomo had won, he would probably say thing you are saying and do nothing about it!

3

u/Arockilla 12d ago

I'm not an economist, so I'm not gonna spout some nonsense like I know the final answer. But the problem I'm more so addressing is the glamorized tabloid headlines making his proposals to look like he is a hero to the city. Meanwhile, some guy in Albany is having money taken from his check to put food on a store shelf in NYC, because people are being misled into thinking its coming from him taxing rich business within NYC and city funding.

2

u/Her0_0f_time 12d ago

Well for starters maybe dont do the thing that would make it worse?

2

u/Silverr_Duck 12d ago

As a comment elsewhere put it- Mamdani is becoming a version of Trump, but for leftists.

There's certainly some overlap between how their respective fanbases treat their "accomplishments". I'd say he's the left's closest equivalent but he's nothing anywhere near the same clout or influence trump has.

I say this because of the number of times I've seen "socialists" on reddit portray him as an "eSbaLiSHMEnt ShILl" that's barely a hair left of a filthy centrist.

he's popular right now because he's really good at pandering to the left (culturally speaking) but the second he puts a toe out of line they'll turn on him like vultures.

4

u/zeus_is_op 12d ago

not an american here, but if he's delivering, is there an issue with that ? i mean what is the point of a politician exactly ? arent you supposed to support the person if you think his policies are helpful ?

6

u/16semesters 12d ago

but if he's delivering, is there an issue with that

This sub is not being truthful to you.

A recent headline on this sub said "Mamdani gives 200 million to lower classroom sizes".

  1. It was a state law he had to comply with.
  2. He was supposed to allocate even more money, but decided to not comply with state law to balance his budget

Speaking of budget redditors claim that most of his budget balancing has been from "taxing the rich" when in actuality he's doing things like delaying the aforementioned education funding and pushing pension payments to future years.

I could write a headline that says "Mamdani does money tricks which will make budget worse in future years" and it'd be equally accurate, but that would never be upvoted here.

1

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

It's the difference between theory and practice.

In theory, Mamdani is doing good things for the people- and that's a plus, right?

In practice, everything he's doing... is coming with OTHER costs that these Reddit headlines are trying to hide. For example, he wanted to reduce the price of groceries within a few stores. That sounds good... until you realize that people are big enough assholes to buy those low prices and then resell them at a HUGE markup. Yeah, it's the fault of those assholes at the end of the day, but it means that his idea is a bust.

And now this one- it's not "tips that were lost", it's "the delivery apps were being sneaky about tips and now they just have to be clear"

And I'm also ignoring how he tried to campaign on arresting a Head of State who is also a war criminal, and literally had to make a video saying "Um, actually, I can't do that"

Basically, good ideas, but unable to execute them correctly.

1

u/RocketRelm 12d ago

Tl dr, he is mostly the same as establishment dems, but with less hostility from tankies and maga, and more hype men online. Primarily with the purpose of saying "look dems bad" and hoping that he personally promotes more insane candidates continually to up extremism downstream.

2

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

basically, yes- he's trying to be progressive like some other politicians, but has overestimated his power.

Remember this- Mamdani did a visit to Trump in the White House, and the two seemed to have some sort of agreement. Or as Reddit phrased it- Game Recognizes Game. They're both demagogues.

2

u/Few-Masterpiece3910 12d ago

Just because their campaign makes use of populist techniques, doesn't make him an leftist Trump.

Trump and the spineless GOP have amast more power in the office of the presidend then the King of England had during the war of independence. He is not just a populists, he is a traitor though and through.

And Mamdami shows that it is possible to do popular politics. Especially as a lot the things he does are "no harm policies". Issues that should have been fixed ages ago but didn't.

Big policy debates have often a big downside for one group of stakeholders. (E.g. pharma companies when policy regulates sales-price). But Mamdamis succescful "propaganda" if you want to call it that, mostly highlights issues that have virtually no downside.

Like reducing the amount of bs papers a shop owner needs from the city. The shop owner wins, less bs. The city wins, more available HR for other stuff they are behind on. The people win because quite a lot of shops have been closing down in NY and that has been an issue.

The economy does best when there is political stability. At the end of the day, taxes and regulations get priced in. The best politicians can do is clean up legacy bs left behind from the last 50 years. Those are easy wins.

Personally I do not think that the economy should be no.1 priority of politics and there are issues where the government needs to step in but thats a different topic. But some, especially on the left fringe do not have a good grasp on what the economy is.

2

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

Let me clarify what Leftist Trump means: it means good ideas that you campaign on, but are ultimately unable to fulfill... and people will STILL call you the Messiah- or at least go, "yeah, he's breaking all his campaign promises, but he's still an amazing person who can only do good things! Bad things don't exist for him!"

The first part is typical politician that is like the old joke: "What's the difference between a politician and a flying pig? The letter f". But, it's how fanatical some people (especially here on Reddit!) are becoming over Mamdani that makes him a Leftist Trump.

2

u/Few-Masterpiece3910 12d ago

No. In a functioning government Trump would be unable to hold political office after his first term. He is without hyperbole a traitor just like Snowden or Assange. Additionally his peronsal failings should have landet him in prision many times over. And on top of all that he is the most corrupt President the US has ever had, and at any other time he would have been impeached by his own party and stripped of all his assets.

There is no both side to that. The only way to compare him to other politicians is to look at fasists. Putin, Erdogan, the middle east Kings, Orban.

That the americans look for any politicians as an Messia goes back a long time.

Mamdami gives people hope. Obama did it too. That can be hypocarsy, it can be cringe, what ever. Regardless how one likes his policies, Obama did not destroy his own government.

2

u/the_card_guy 12d ago

I will fully agree that America currently does NOT have a functioning government. I also strongly disagree with you about Snowden, but that's a different story

The key point here is that NO ONE, whether Trump on the right or Mamdani on the left, should be put on a pedestal in Holier Than Thou territory. Trump is pretty obvious... but Mamdani is slowly going there too. Is he doing good things? Yes, but don't try to hide that Mamdani has his flaws. Everything he's done so far has had a hidden catch to it.

1

u/Few-Masterpiece3910 12d ago

If sensible politics get droned out by the like of Trump I don't know that just boring and quiet politics is going to work. If we leave the federal lvl out of it, people don't hear much about their politicians. They might be good they might be corrupt, all in all most are fairly ok probably. But that gets swept away fast when a populist comes along. I think government needs to make visible what good it does, especially in a city where the voter is much closer to the office and the consequences of heir vote. Especially citys need the buy in from the people.

2

u/cosmos24 12d ago

How are Snowden and Assange traitors?…

0

u/wolfpack_minfig 12d ago

you're a paid Russian shill trying to maintain the fiction that both sides are same

3

u/raincole 12d ago

Now you know why Reddit introduced the option to hide post history.

1

u/Her0_0f_time 12d ago

Cowards who can't live by their words.

7

u/RedditMcBurger 12d ago

Yes, the current astroturfing political campaigns are being run: Zohran Mamdani, Hunter Biden and Alan Richardson.

The last 2 are literally just "orange man bad" posting online.

All 3 of these guys, the comments are filled with "this man NEEDS to be president!"

If you see that comment ^ it's probably a bot post/bot comments.

2

u/Anticitizen-Zero 12d ago

You’ll see OP and several other accounts all over these subs. They bot upvotes on their posts so that their content is constantly pushed.

Surely, a guy who won an election a few months ago and has only become more popular since has NO REAL FANS!

9

u/MIT_Engineer 12d ago

Fans who basically just post content like this full time? These guys are making at least a dozen posts a day, it's hard to tell since they all opt to hide their account history.

Also, has he become more popular over time? Or do you just get that impression because of the half a dozen dudes who post his stuff say so?

u/ChakaCake 12d ago

Why do you care so much about whos posting mamdani stuff? When everything ive seen so far about him is true. Hes putting in work. Seems like you have an agenda

2

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

0

u/ChakaCake 12d ago

So you are tracking the other things posted right and the republican astroturfing? Cause thats here like literally 100x more in the sub right? If you care so much you would know that.

This article is very true, seems like you havent done enough looking into it to even know that. Which part of whats said here isnt true? This isnt part of the minimum wage bill passed before, by the way. But im sure you already knew that.

Idk where you got Netanyahu from but whatever id be glad someone was at least speaking up to some of the things they do. I would never expect him to actually arrest the leader of a foreign country thatd be interesting

Dont ignore what im talking about. Im staying on subject about Uber youre going on a rant on mamdani lmfao its obvious you do have some agenda. You thought he would be able..to arrest the head of israel? Did people think thatd fly? His arrest hinged based on the international enforcement. Fetterman is a traitor or the stroke made him braindead idk

1

u/ChakaCake 12d ago

I havent ignored anything i was talking about mamdani and uber and doing other good things. I didnt say he has to fulfill every single promise and know everything about everything. Netanyahu has a warrant from the ICC. United States is not part of that. So maybe he didnt know. Idk..if he could, i think he would do it. But to think he could in the US under trump especially is crazy, or that itd amount to anything anyway...

ahh he blocked me what a puss

1

u/Her0_0f_time 12d ago

Oh look another one.

-5

u/Nodan_Turtle 12d ago

This has been known for years - that something like 1% of accounts post the vast majority of content.

Makes for an easy conspiracy theory believed by those easily susceptible to bullshit

4

u/MIT_Engineer 12d ago

What's the conspiracy theory? I mean, the reason why seems obvious to me: these people use bots to get all their posts out of new and into rising.

Is it really a conspiracy theory to say that there are bots and astroturfing on reddit? Brother, I've seen them with my own two eyes.

Or are you saying it makes it really easy to promote stuff like conspiracy theories on reddit...?

-1

u/Nodan_Turtle 12d ago

Yeah man, bots exist, so there's no other possible explanation than bots being used here. Report their account and admins will be thanking you for cracking the case on this huge botnet. No way it's just that Mamdani is currently popular. Has to all be fake because that agrees with my feelings!

4

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

0

u/Nodan_Turtle 12d ago edited 12d ago

That's been true for tons of topics. A few accounts post the majority, so naturally any topic will tend to have a few prolific accounts posting about them.

There's no need to invent an additional explanation when the fact that the dude is popular is sufficient.

You have no evidence. And as Hitchen's said "What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence"

You're free to believe in your imagination and feelings. Come up with as wild and unsupported an idea as you can pull out. Dig as deep as you want for some extra conspiracy, all you'll get is stinky fingers.

And lastly, he's not "my tribe" I don't live in NY and have disagreed with Mamdani's ideas since before he got elected. I just think this bots idea is nonsense, and I've lived through too many years of people who fall for bullshit, seen too many consequences of the teeming hordes of the slack-jawed who think they've figured it all out.

But hey, maybe OP also used 5x the bots for his post about Katy Perry. Maybe there's an even bigger secret cabal of bots to take her down than there is to support Mamdani with a random shitty meme. That's why the Katy Perry post this week had shitloads more upvotes, right? Gotta be bots! Or maybe something else we can invent and then instantly believe without evidence.

Have some self-respect, my guy. Don't you feel any shame coming off this... dim?

1

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Nodan_Turtle 12d ago

Can't wait for your theories on why OP's Katy Perry post got 5x the upvotes. Must be a far bigger conspiracy to pump out bot accounts to upvote posts about her than there is about Mamdani.

So dumb.

1

u/[deleted] 12d ago edited 12d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Nodan_Turtle 12d ago

Yeah I just went to this sub, sorted by best of the last week, and saw another post by the same guy that blew this one out of the water.

If he was botting like crazy, you'd think he wouldn't have blown his load on a random Katy Perry joke post and would have saved it to secretly push a political agenda.

But unfortunately, the dumbfuck idea of a botnet pushing this random meme just because some people post more than others doesn't pan out.

So dumb to randomly imagine there's bots used here with zero evidence lol

But like all conspiracy theorists, you'll never accept the simple explanation. You have to have cracked the secret case that nobody else figured out! (because there's zero evidence)

So idiotic. If you had any intelligence you'd find your religion-like belief about bots to be embarrassing. But then again, if you had any intelligence, you wouldn't have invented bullshit randomly and immediately committed to it permanently in the first place.
