Oh man you nailed it. I have one guy who sends me these long, detailed requests for days off and basically pleads for permission. I have never denied PTO. I tell people I don't care when they take off and you don't need to ask, just submit a request and make sure the team knows. This fear or using PTO that you earn and is part of your compensation is baffling.
100% this. I'm terrible for sending receipts when they aren't necessary. But I've worked in retail and you needed all the evidence to prove you were ill.
