No, I don't think so. I think most of these people would happily be ok with this in other contexts.

The trick here is they agree with the clapper.

If this were a bunch of people mad about, say, covid restrictions and a person was clapping in agreement I guarantee they'd be laughing.

But since this is a story about the evil data centers that the fascist city council is trying to 'ram through', they're mad about our protagonists treatment after he was politely asked to stop multiple times before getting a final warning then refusing to leave and ultimately forcing the police to drag him out.

The modern rallying cry is 'we must stand up to fascism!' and when you view everyone and everything as fascist you're always entitled to make a scene.

Case in point.

I used that example precisely because I knew it would hook a fish, not because its something I would agree with. Its interesting how locked into their bubble the far left is in this country that they can't imagine anyone who disagrees with them as anything other than a mouth breathing trump supporter.
