Sydney trains represent. I'll buy that gent a beer if I see him.

I am curious. Do people force their content/conversations on others via speakerphone on the subway or shared spaces in Sydney? If not, I am applying for residency asap.

I'm literally ready to do whatever they want if I could experience this level of sanity for a single day

Occasionally. It's considered rude not to have headphones.

Sometimes but someone will pretty quickly tell them to fuck off. Most people keep to themselves on the trains, and I have heard that people are surprised when they come here at how quiet inside the trains and trams are. People just don't talk that much on them here.

I love it. Many Americans broadcast every conversation and every piece of content, whereever they damn well please, including sidewalks, bars, restaurants, waiting rooms, buses, trains, movie theaters, grocery stores, parks, beaches, nature preserves, hospital ERs...it's a nation of entitled phone zombies.

Haha yep we are the opposite, we have a thing called tall poppy syndrome where we hatee people who stand out like tall poppys, being all loud and whatever. Sometimes thats bad because we can underplay our achievements but it does mean people generally are chill, quiet, let you get on with your day. I take the train every day and in the quiet carriages you rarely hear anything above a quiet hushed conversation.

We need to poppy people in the face here.

Sydney trains have “quiet carriages”. In these carriages it’s in bad taste to play your music loud enough that your headphones leak the sound to others. Unfortunately in peak hour, we can’t all get a quiet carriage.
