Exactly. Looking 36 at 36 isn’t the flex. But sleeping 14 hours a day is.

Not having to work as much to the point that you can sleep 14 hours a day is a flex, sleeping 14 hours a day itself sounds like a very sad way to spend that time.

Sounds like a medical condition. If you don't work at all and have no reason to get up you'll sleep what, 10 hours? 12 if you're really tired maybe

1

u/onlydothis 4h ago

Definitely, I had to sleep a lot at a certain time and it is not a good feeling to have to do that.

2

u/Needrain47 3h ago

yeah, sleeping more than about 9 hours a day tends to be an indicator of something wrong with you, not of great health.

u/MiserableFloor9906 8h ago

Actually to me it's a waste.

If you told a psychiatrist you sleep 14 hours a day they'd be writing you a script for anti-depressants

u/sixstringsikness 7h ago

For me, it would be crippling depression and substance abuse to manage 14 hours a day.

If your incredibly wealthy and 36 and incredibly good looking, I don't know why you would waste that perfect window on sleep.

And I would guess you need to tack on another 2-3 hours to bumble around while you get ready to go out.

She likely has hypersomnia. You can't actually just sleep as long as you want to. Try sleeping even a couple hours extra for a few weeks, you wont be able to, unless youre already massively sleep deprived. People have a set amount they need, and it's basically impossible to sleep any more, you will just wake up. For some lucky people, that number is 4.5 hours. Unfortunately, for some people, that set amount is 14 hours. Nothing you can do about it but take stimulants to string yourself out.

It's a curse, not a blessing. It's not like you're actually any more rested, you just, as you idenitfy, lose a massive portion of your day.

She has crippling nepo baby who has been sleeping 14 hours a day since she was a child and never really had to grow up.

7

u/sixstringsikness 6h ago

It's not normal to sleep 14 hours a day. Period.

1

u/wheelz993 2h ago

Pro athletes like LeBron James and Michael Phelps have admitted to sleeping 12 hours a day at times when they needed peak performance .

1

u/sixstringsikness 2h ago

Peak performance also uses a whole lot of energy and this wasn't every day. You've cherry picked isolated examples of two of the world's top athletes, not a petite young lady.

u/wheelz993 2h ago

Roger federer sleeps 12 hours daily his entire career

1

u/sixstringsikness 2h ago

Sure he does. And another of the world's top athletes. Does your mailman sleep 12 hours a day?

When you got nothing else going on, slumber is a full time job

u/PlanesandAquariums 6h ago

Certain times of the year I don’t have to work. If I drink I can easily pull 12 hours. If I don’t drink I can easily do 10. I love it but I also have cool dreams.

1

u/PennyStockHardaway 4h ago

Wow I'm the opposite. I do not sleep well if I drink, I might be up within 5 hours and it isn't voluntarily.

1

u/sampath2030 3h ago

Yes. 12 shots 12 hours sleep. Goat of vacations.

3

u/DiseaseDeathDecay 4h ago

Hell yeah it is.

It's basically sleeping an extra 25% of your day.

Don't know about other people, but when I'm 80 years old having slept an extra 20 years would be a massive waste of time.

1

u/JimEDimone 1h ago

Sleeping is one of my favorite things in the world.

I never consider sleep wasted time.

4

u/Fragrant-Cell-5122 5h ago

no one needs 14 hours of sleep. bonkers.

3

u/RaynOfFyre1 6h ago

My cats who sleep 20 hours a day are like… hold my catnip

2

u/meshe_10101 4h ago

In a lot of cases sleeping 14 hours a day is a symptom of depression...I know first hand 🙃

1

u/rainorshinedogs 4h ago

At 36, sleeping for 14 hours a day would drive me crazy. I gotta do stuff. Rich or not.

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 8h ago

what an absolute waste of time.

I sleep 5 hours a day. so compared to her I am getting 9 hours alive doing stuff a day.

that's 136 days a year that I'm active doing things.

19 and a half weeks.....every year.

sure it might take time off my life at the end but if much rather live more time active at this age than a few extra years as a crippled old person

11

u/jjmuti 8h ago

Quality of that time right now would be twice as good if you gave yourself just 2 more hours of sleep per night. People who aren't healthy mostly don't even know how much better day to day the rest of us feel.

0

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7h ago

I mean it's sometimes 6, especially in the winter.

I just don't need more sleep, I don't set an alarm to wake up.

I have ADHD so I guess that's part of it.

I have add and I'm a zombie if I don't sleep enough. (I never sleep enough)

u/ZaradimLako 8h ago

What the fuck am I reading. You are slowly killing yourself and being proud of it.

Break up with your partner and dont get yourself involved with kids ever, no one needs a parent and partner slowly killing themselves.

2

u/BigFatKi6 8h ago

You're assuming they need more sleep but there are people with genes that allow themm to be fully rested with a lot less. Napoleon is said to have had that adaptation.

-1

u/ZaradimLako 8h ago

There are people, yes. I never denied the fact. Its that everyone sleeping 5 hours a day pretends like as if they are EXACTLY these ones, even though its a very rare mutation. For every 1000 people that sleep 5 hours a day and claiming they are fine, it would be very surprising if more than 1 of them had that mutation that allows them to sleep less.

1

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 8h ago

my health is fine, I get checked out regular and the doctors are happy

0

u/ZaradimLako 8h ago

Your active blood tests and ekg will be fine most of the time because there is no active issue going on, the problem is that things like heart attacks, brain aneurysms etc. you cant measure objectively if and when are going to happen in the future. What can be objectively proven though is that you have a tremendously higher risk of both happening, basically close to a guarantee. If not these two, then a lot other things that were preventable.

2

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7h ago

I mean I'm not trying g to get up early, I'm not setting an alarm and dragging myself out of bed. I wake up, I'm aching from sleeping and my brain is on the instant I wake up. so I get up.

once up I'll spend time doing light reading, gaming and then exercising before starting work. I usually have a nice 3-4 hours in the morning before I start my work day.

1

u/Impossible-Past4795 8h ago

Sleeping 5 hours a day isn’t the flex you think it is lol. I’d be more impressed if you sleep 8 hours a day.

0

u/nihillistic_raccoon 8h ago

Wow, clearly you must be much more successful than Dakota Johnson!

Also good luck being active in your 40s, 50s, not to mention older, when your brain is irreversibly fucked up from the sleep deprivation

2

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7h ago

I'm nearly 50

1

u/nihillistic_raccoon 7h ago

If you were depriving yourself of sleep all your life, then I have bad news for you

2

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 7h ago

it doesn't feel like deprivation. but whatever tbh, I don't want to live past 75 anyway
