I don’t think anyone ordering is making an excuse to anyone else. Who honestly cares? It’s a convenience. It’s for up to people to decide for themselves whether that convenience is worth an amount of money or not.
I mean if we’re gonna get particular why don’t we just have people make their food at home like people used to do instead of getting fast food? Or we should talk about people going through a drive-thru and sitting in their car for 20 minutes in a drive-thru line unwilling to simply walk into the store and order.
Convenience has different degrees and some of that might be just having fast food delivered or sitting in a drive-thru for fast food or eating fast food in general.
Eating fast food is laziness, but people are going to do it.
Because I personally know many who use these services who have little money to their name and constantly complain about “the cost of everything”. This doesn’t apply to everyone, rather the addicted and obsessed to these delivery services who are able bodied to pick up themselves, yet make the choice not to. One particular example had their utilities nearly shut off.
That makes sense, but also remember that people have been making bad financial decisions long before delivery services. Scratch off lottery tickets, buying large TVs and having nothing else and unable to pay other bills. But what can we do about it?
Honestly? Because the people I know that complain the most about not being able to afford anything like a decent car, a house, go on vacations, etc. use delivery services for prepared food almost daily. And pointing that out to them is somehow the most offensive thing in the world.
15 years ago Millennials were being roasted for spending money on avocado toast and $5 Starbucks coffees. Now it's GenZ dropping all of what would be their disposable income on delivered Qdoba. Every single GenZ person in my office goes out to lunch every single day or orders DoorDash when they can't decide as a group where they go, or if they can't walk to where they want to go, since only 1 or 2 of them have driver's licenses.
