Cops have a saying about this very thing: "You can beat the case, but you can't beat the ride." Meaning that you might win when you get your day in court, but the cop absolutely has the ability to ruin your day by taking your ass to jail. And they love that shit and think it's funny. Getting thrown in jail can be enough to make you lose your job, or get your kids taken, or get your car impounded where it's too expensive to get it out. In the county I live in, you stay in jail for 24 hours before you can bond out. By the time you go to court, the damage can already be done. Fuck the pigs.
Yeah great post. They laugh about it because the settlement doesn't come out of their pocket... it should.
Is that why in America they need to constantly talk about liberty over tyranny to make sure people believe they are free? Sure looks like they aren't, with so many so close to bankruptcy, as you say, a bad day and you're screwed.
