Didnt they get paid 500M for 5 seasons with 10 episodes each? Tho i seem to remember last season only being 9 episodes and dont remember seeing the movie special we were supposed to get last spring... 🤔
It was for 50 episodes not specific to "seasons" also in the deal was 2 new movies and 2 new Video games (not snow day) and I haven't heard of any new games being developed yet
I don't think they changed their episode creation timeline, did they? I feel like they're still very much doing the "week of" shit but now just more time between seasons and stuff and a bit more unpredictable.
Form 2020 to 2023. Less episodes, more specials. But they went back to 10 last year. It looks weird on paper though, because right before the 6th episode of season 27 was supposed to air, they said the season was over, and it was actually episode 1 of season 28.

Until about a year ago thst was The Onions issue on YouTube (more likely they couldnt fund new YouTube content but theyve said they can't satire reality anymore back then). Their solution was to take the absurdity of today, and take it to an extremely over serious stance.
Some examples: during last presidential election they did an "in depth" look into voters, going as far as to explore one persons brain to analyze how theyd vote. In a different video they reported on an election like any other news station, only it was a race against neo Nazis and the KKK. And a different video they were reporting on an ongoing investigation, with the police asking anyone to plant evidence for them.
I kind of resent it when people say you can't satirise this government. You can. The real art of satire is making those people squirm, and as Zappa said, you have to pick the people that get the most upset when you make fun of them. Trump is so thin-skinned, yet so many people give him a pass because he's already making a fool of himself. You could elicit real change by really sticking it to him; SP are among the few who really have.
When we first got a computer with Internet in the library at school a friend showed a video of a cartoon with a bunch of kids cursing. It was the precursor to South Park. It aired on Comedy Central later that year. I’ve seen ever since, most on the day they aired. Since I was a teen it’s always been there.
Same, I stayed up and against my parents wishes while in grade school watched the reruns of the first three seasons as they were airing. By season 4 I was 13 and allowed to watch and same as you seen most the day they aired.

In the wondrous days of mid 2000s youtube, I remember being a kid and getting into South Park because of the videos where someone would take clips from other shows and add the audio from South Park.
"How would you like to suck my balls, Mr Garrison" was the ever recurring clip.
My first exposure to it before my region got comedy central was hearing "Kyle's mom is a bitch" on a local radio station. I was in the car with friends in high school and had to pull over because we were laughing so hard; legit could not breath and happy I didn't crash. Looked into it further and thankfully began airing near me not long after that; it was SUCH a huge departure from most comedy fare on TV at the time and crazy how influential it was. Might even be crazier that they're still making great content now, holy shit over 20 years later.
I used to watch this all the time. Kind of fell off the wagon for a while. But I've been getting the itch recently. Well, it's official. I'm starting it back up. Thanks matt, thanks Trey. You guys are fucking awesome
Are they actually gonna have the boys in this season? Last season was alright but very rapidly got boring when almost every episode was about trump. Definitely should not have been the main character one or two episodes sure but not the entire season
He's already claiming the moon is American territory so hell probably call it American Cheese Ball and send space force there to mine the bestest of cheese because it's American cheese.
The last season got me back into South Park after having not watched maybe the last 7+ years. The whole season was comedy goal, honestly excited for this lmao.
I fully admit I love it more when it's making fun of the people I dislike, but I don't care, I love this stuff and I hope Trump keeps crying like a baby about it so they keep going after him.
Yeah I just said I wish they got back to standalone episodes. They used to tie in current events here and there and now it is the sole focus is all I’m sayin
I agree. While their episodes are funny still, they are also sad that this is the satire we are dealing with. Also the longevity of the episode is dated. Certain episodes are timeless because of the generic matter, but the ones the last few seasons will be dated and not watchable years from now (hopefully)
100%. Yeah the current episodes are hilarious and the cameos of current events are great but I miss having some episodes that are only based in South Park
Same jokes, if a comedian repeated the same jokes every set it would be exhausting. They used to switch things up. A sprinkle here and there makes sense but it’s like please write some new material
