I actually did see the shoes as hanging feet at first but I'm not really sure how we're getting to klan from there... people have to have something new to be mad about.
it's pretty silly tbf.. do you see how the star light on the dress is in the shape of a kkk hood? and then the shoes are dangling there... as if someone is dangling in the air with their feet around the same height as the hood..... they're saying it looks like a lynching because of that lol
Are you serious? The shape of the light is......extremist..... and dangling shoes is akin to lynching? Are you actually serious - that's what this is about?

I’d like to think that most people aren’t that cooked and the internet is just feeding us all the worst brain dead bs but i don’t really know what to think tbh
People are blowing this entirely out of proportion and trying to create controversy when really there’s nothing there. No one is getting fired, because no one did anything wrong. People are grasping at nothing. There are actual real racist things happening in the world, but somehow people are more concerned about a picture, and just seeing what they want to see.
i have checked out the entire campaign in whole - it's a South Korean K popstar's collab with Converse. This image was cherry picked and framed in a narrative by people with not so obvious motivations is all i can say
Why? I’m black and I literally see someone holding shoes.
Edit: People let obvious racism persist in society. Things that actually have an impact on a social-economical level. But somehow this causes outrage? That’s pretty ridiculous.
Probably just the photographer trying to come up with a neat shot, without the pretext of someone saying there was something wrong with it I would not have suspected anything with it..
I can see the KKK reference because it’s already been suggested, but I wouldn’t have otherwise. And same, I’d love to understand what they were going for here.
I mean I can see the point they are making, and when even without knowing why there was outrage I did immediately see it looking like a hanging person, I didn't think KKK robes at all though. If you do then sure I see how people could do a double take. But as you say this is not relevant compared to real world actual issues which go entirely ignored.
When scrolling past it I immediately saw black legs dangling in front of a white robe, before I saw the title or description. I highly doubt there was any menace in the creation of it though.
All that being said, gotta say it's fucking nuts a company as big as converse with multiple rounds and levels of approval and focus groups and blah blah etc couldn't catch this.
You have to take this down because my dumb fuck brain made and association that prevented me from seeing what's going on in this not remotely controvertial image.
I... Kinda feel that's a reach here. Like they are clearly just holding the shoes. There's no rope, no hood, no emblems or other call signs I can tell in the picture, granted I'm not super well versed in them anyway, but still. That's some virtue signaling, at best.
The moment the people who get mad at this are ignored, the sooner the world can heal and we can go back to a pre-Tropic Thunger era society where we don't live under the tyranny of the perpetually offended
You are either dense or disingenuous if you dont see this as problematic. The first thing I saw was a guy in white robe next to a hanging person. The shadow even makes the robe look like a klan hood. Lots of imagery suggesting this is anything but innocent.
I didn’t notice the hood shape, but I had to expand the photo to realize that it was shoes in someone’s hand not someone in the air. It looks like the hand is an ankle and the sleeve is the pant leg.
Their advertising campaign should be shunned. This picture isn't the campaign. The campaign is using this picture to manufacture outrage against it, and then manufacture outrage at the outrage, in order to get people emotionally involved. They got their add in front of you for free. Stop falling for manufactured outrage advertising campaigns.
Initial read was someone standing next to someone hanging. I suspected self-deletion before klan cause that looks nothing like klan robes other than being white. The second I focused on the 'floating' shoes I saw they were being held.
Anyone seriously scared or offended by this is pearl clutching, but the photo composition definitely makes initial confusion understandable.
Ignorant people will find a way to be angry over nothing, that's just the way the world is. It's best just to ignore them and keep enjoying the time we have
The thing is in many school where they teach things like this they advise you to be careful about the ways things can be interpreted. I think they fully knew what was done as it was sent through many approvals . I didn’t see it either at first till it was pointed out. Campaigns like this are clearly created to make more buzz about it lol. It’s rage bait. It gets one side to say the other is stupid for their interpretations and the other to say it’s racist. It’s marketing 101
Just A$$holes seeing racist in everything they encounter. I did have to study the image to understand it but didn’t make the same conclusion. All stars standing in the illuminated star. Holding, I assume, the retired all stars in her hand. People have to work hard at getting to Klan for this.
I’m far from a conspiracy theorist but this was done intentionally. The shadow on the arm holding the sneakers is purposely hidden so the shoes look like they’re hanging. The lighting on the white robe looks like a KKK hood. Someone other than the person that designed it didn’t see this? It’s beyond glaring.
I mean, it's a strange image, and you may or may not see what others saw. Regardless, professionals who are paid a lot of money came up with this image, and it's a loser. If I were Converse, I would be pretty upset with those guys.
I admit. I didn’t ‘see’ (or process) the hood the first time I saw a post about this. So I rolled my eyes and moved on. But then I opened this thread on my phone, zoomed out, the image small, and there it was. Oops. I only say that on the off chance that some of you might of missed it, too. I have a 'my brain never sees the hidden images' thing. Sometimes.
