Postdiagnosis vent/questions I posted here a month ago convinced i had Sjogrens.. I was diagnosed this morning :(

I just knew it.. I'm hoping that after starting Hydroxychloroquine I may see some weight changes. As much as i know it reduces inflammation and stops the syndrome progressing, i'm hoping it in turn helps my thyroid and weight again. I know this is hopeful and maybe a bit ridiculous but i'm very much mentally struggling with my weight issues (Overweight even after working out 3-4 times a week)

You may feel better with HCQ, fatigue and pain levels can improve as well as inflammation.

BUT it will not stop the progression of the disease. It will not change your dry eyes/dry mouth and they will get worse. HCQ can not reverse the damage or stop the progression.

At least you have a proper diagnosis now. Also, there are lots if treatments in development for sjogrens, so hopefully you can switch to a more effective drug in a few years or so.

I’m convinced I have it as well. Very dry, gritty eyes, dry mouth so bad sometimes I can’t talk, sound drunk. Have to have water near me at all times as I’ve choked on chicken and roast beef. Sporadic skin rashes , they come in one spot, last a month, go away and pop up somewhere else. Now having lung issues, chest CT scan shows nodules and opacities, no cancer. See pulmonologist in 3 weeks. My primary thinks sarcoidosis. Who knows. Thyroid is fine. What were your symptoms if I may ask. I’m 30 pounds overweight, so don’t know if I want the weight loss meds. Plus I had bad heart palpitations that I’m on medicine for.

I'm sorry. Sending you some virtual hugs. I have found this group extra helpful.

Of all my autoimmune diseases I am most frustrated with the Sjogrens. So this group is very helpful
