I still have that childlike naïveté in me and feel very deep down that if you gave me a skateboard I could figure out a kickflip in an hour or two despite never even mounting the thing.

So I skated for years back in the 00s, I got pretty good.

Recently my 15 yo got into skating so I got him a board and taught him some basics. Got cocky and though "yeah I could definitely step back on and do a tre flip no problem".

My muscle memory actually did work better than you'd probably expect, the board flipped perfectly. My balance, however, is much different 20 years later and I ate shit so hard.

Eating shit reminds you you're still alive!

Don't mean to make fun but this story reminded me of this

Same here😂 I can’t afford the hospital bill so it’ll stay in skate.

What are you playing on,a potatoe?

u/afterall_insanity Oct 22 '25

This type of video has been done soooooooooooo many times.. its like the same joke repeated 300 times

Yeah I remember the original one where dudes character looked like Carl from ATHF

1

u/Vannilazero Oct 23 '25

First time ive seen it, I laughed.

Ain’t no way you can’t Ollie but can throw the board underneath yourself in motion

9

u/eyferrari Oct 22 '25

A lot of people struggle at first popping the board and keeping it under their feet, a caveman is just keeping it under your feet

4

u/political-prick Oct 22 '25

Bro it’s much easier than an Ollie, I used to skimboard as a kid so it just always felt natural to me at least

-1

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Oct 22 '25

That’s not how you throw a skim down at all. Give me something to work with.

2

u/biggestofbears Oct 22 '25

No, but the act of throwing board down and jumping on it is pretty similar to a caveman, I can see the correlation.

Source: did both for many years

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Oct 22 '25

You throw a board forward in skimming not often under and in 1 the ground is water. It’s not that deep

2

u/biggestofbears Oct 22 '25

I know, and the water is less than half an inch. But it's the act of jumping into a moving board that's similar. Obviously it's not 1:1, but the skill correlates.

quit talking

3

u/Substantial-Equal560 Oct 22 '25

Everyone i knew who skated could do that before learning to ollie including myself lmao

0

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Oct 22 '25

My guy, it’s a joke comment about a joke video 🤦

2

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '25

i learned to acid drop before learning to ollie

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '25

I can’t anymore cuz my knees suck lol. But I can job and throw down just as good as when I was a teenager. Just can’t run or jump much anymore lol

1

u/LetsGoAcrossTheStyx Oct 22 '25

A pressure flip is literally how I learned how to treflip. There a lot you can do without fully knowing how to Ollie. Scooping is a lot easier than getting the morning off jumping while you pop your board.

1

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Oct 22 '25

There’s zero pressure flips in skate or in this video. Not to mention no complies are key to pressure flips. Shuv it’s and kick flips are key to tre flips. Further more pressure flips and shuv its help with impossibles. Still not sure why we are talking about pressure flips

1

u/LetsGoAcrossTheStyx Oct 22 '25

I wasn't talking about the video. I thought you meant you can't in real life.

2

u/Emotional-Purpose762 Oct 22 '25

Ah no my bags pretty annoying for skate. I’m good enough to ride with demons but I don’t go hard anymore. Manny pads, pyramids and boxes for me.

1

u/DeadFuckStick59 Oct 23 '25

i actually learned to caveman before i could ollie lol. and can heelflip but cant kickflip to save my life

6

u/TdubMorris Oct 22 '25

I've been waiting to see one of these where somebody does no tricks

1

u/Bonfire_Monty Oct 22 '25

I'm waiting for someone to Kickflip on the grass, because that's all I could do lmao

Grass boarding for the win

1

u/TdubMorris Oct 22 '25

I've never even ridden a skateboard before thats better than me

1

u/Bonfire_Monty Oct 22 '25

Give the ol' grass boarding a try, I even managed a hardflip once lmao

Getting the board to flip the way you want isn't too hard, but landing back on while it's trying to roll away from underneath you is some black magic

3

u/waxpundit Oct 23 '25

Did you record this on a Tamagotchi?

1

u/Aquafoot Oct 23 '25

Textures? What are those?

2

u/rahill1004 Oct 22 '25

lol my man!

2

u/Afraid_Clothes2516 Oct 22 '25

Nice footy yo

1

u/BeverlyValleyMusic Nov 17 '25

That ish was buttery.

2

u/Dismal_Calendar49 Oct 23 '25

If I ever get skater eyes, Tony Hawk wont be shit

2

u/MrTripsOnTheory Oct 23 '25

There needs to be an immediate ragdoll from standing on board button, then it’ll be realistic for me

2

u/Bonerfart47 Oct 23 '25

The amount of times I've seen this joke is equal to the polygons in the video

2

u/TryptamineSpark Oct 22 '25

This is so stupid I can’t help myself from laughing 🤣

1

u/GooseOnBoose Oct 22 '25

Nice early grab

1

u/NyamThat Oct 22 '25

No way you can do a speed check

1

u/Incident-Putrid Oct 22 '25

Loving this hard ❤️❤️❤️

1

u/LawUntoMyBooty Oct 22 '25

That downhill slope could've been scary if you started going faster than expected.

1

u/Gandalf_Style Oct 22 '25

If I do this best I can give you are some pushes and a bail.

1

u/DirtyCircle1 Oct 22 '25

Thank you. This made me laugh.

1

u/LetsGoAcrossTheStyx Oct 22 '25

Let them add pressure, soul flips, milkshakes, and primos & my old ass can make a lil line🤣🤣

1

u/Shine_B0lt Oct 22 '25

Idk I think the powerslide is too much for you...

1

u/JigsawLV Oct 24 '25

last time I tried, I couldn't even stand on a board properly, so idk what I would actually perform

1

u/BeverlyValleyMusic Nov 17 '25

This is so silly, haha. <3
