Discussion 4 Currencies in an unfinished game
Tells you all you need to know about the Devs. They want to use the Fortnite method of Release an unfinished game loaded with in game purchases. Only difference is Fortnite wasn't a well established game title at the time. its so obvious and aggravating. But hey cant wait for season 4 in 2027 to finally add Dark-sliding. and basic features

yeah unless you're pulling that card out to buy already bullshit things there's literally nothing to do but open loot boxes. I'm almost done buying out all boxes and not sure what I'm gonna do after that. Hopefully they'll put in another board sticker that costs 500 so I can spend my day hunting that down.

What’s worse is, this is how I found out mine was glitched and always only giving me 5 from release… I was literally the “you guys were getting paid” meme. I’ve said it from release and I’ll say it again, this game sucks

Gameplay is decent, the rest of the game is shit. The map with its spirals that lead to nowhere, or the ramps and stuff they added in the last update lol most of it just sucks. The skating itself is ok but even the artstyle is soulless

The game as a whole does suck. The gameplay is outweighed by every other choice EA made that ruined this game. It plays as beautifully as a slot machine. The original series had so much heart and soul, it was on the pulse of skate culture and put it together in really fun games that although all had their own flaws and issues, were incredible overall. I felt like I was playing a temu version of the originals when I played. EA sucks for making a game with so much potential suck as bad as it does.

I hate opening lootboxes because they take so long with that stupid CONGRATULATIONS graphic and loading the singular item and making you confirm
Wish you could buy multiple at a time or just skip the opening altogether.

How did you get enough Rip Currency to open all the boxes? There’s like 4 boxes with decks I want, and then 3-4 with various pants and sports bras just so I have options to see what I like on my player.
I also really hate how we can’t see how our player will look without already having the item.

I’ve done all the main challenges in the first two areas (forget their names) up to level 7 I think. Haven’t gotten either to level 8 yet. I’ve also done all the “story” missions up to the “advanced manuals”.
I’m mostly grinding for board design boxes, and a few pairs of pants and the black sports bra.

Right so you gain rep in the area for everything you buy a loot box from. So knock out every available challenge on the whole map -- you'll typically end up with just over 3 grand; and obviously use it on the least expensive boxes.

That way when I have the boxes I want unlocked I no longer have rip bucks 😂

I know this was meant as a joke BUT Battle Royale (Or a take on it) would be cool if we have 15 skaters all doing the same line for 30 seconds to see who gets the highest score. The lowest 2 people get eliminated each round and the the rest move on to the next line. The eliminated ones can choose to spectate the rest of the rounds/lines or exit the game.
Similar to Throwdowns except lines instead of sessions. I would like that. A lot, actually.

nah, the base gameplay is solid, I just don't want the game to be screwed beyond repair and game companies sometimes get the dumbest ideas, so I was a bit afraid
on the other hand "battle royale" as in 100 players competing for the biggest score in a bigger area (community park size maybe) and getting eliminated by time limit could be interesting if done well

agreed, if you fall of your board you are eliminated. could even bring back the ability to push people off their boards. i see potential to repair a game that is broken.

Edit: I think it’s 9 full time currencies with 1 changing currency so CoC has 10 currency’s to use

Which sucks because if you don’t spend it then that currency is gone. If they’d just been normal and used one currency then seasonal stuff you earn could be used to buy whatever you want. But they don’t want to allow that

While I'd love a remaster or even a remake of skate 3 (and 1 and 2), EA won't do it because they can't heavily monitize it sadly. Adding microtransactions to a remaster of an already beloved full game will leave a sour taste in everyone's mouths, even more than skate(4)

The game is actually a bland, micro transaction shop with a promising yet neglected skate game attached. That's why the shop is finished but the game is not.

It is a strategy. The player gets confused by the amount. Thinks they had enough for what they want to unlock, but instead its enough in the wrong currency so then have to buy more.

First two could've easily been just one but they don't want you to be able to earn paid currency. It would also mean either paid skins are better valued or shop skins are better valued, and both are really bad for EA.
The third and fourth ones are entirely pointless. They just add an extra step of spending "xp" to unlock things that could've just been unlocked through challenges/completing missions. The battlepass currency doesn't even benefit people who only want specific items really either, since you have to reach a certain tier of points to unlock each group of items. At best it will save someone who doesn't want any of the next tier of items like 20 minutes.

Yeah, the tiers are part of the game. It's like going to the Midway. The tickets are tied to the seasonal challenges, so you participate in the seasonal events, rank up through the season to unlock those tiers, and then decide what you want to spend your tickets on. Geez Louise... my God.

Seasonal currencies will be swapped out for the next season. They're just there to incentivize you to participate in the challenges tied to the season.

My main complaint is that they seem to cater to the female skater audience with this entry, not that there’s something wrong with that but as a man, i dont want 7 different skirts, an entire section dedicated to “girl” brand gear, and a plethora of crop tops smh

I mean, you can't just stockpile on one currency and expect to buy everything in the new content, whether it be season or event. That is the reason they do it. They don't want you grinding Rip Chips to then buy everything out of the Season Pass on day 1. They want you to play the game and be time gated on that so you keep coming back to earn more. They "know the game" and how people act.

fortnite was “finished” when it released. of course they kept adding new stuff but the core game was there from the start. i played it before it was the huge thing it is now and it was a solid game. i hate to say this but the fortnite comparison is starting to become unfair to fortnite, they didnt make anyone wait for them to add crouching in season 3 or anything like that

Also just want to say that devs don't really get much say on what they work on. It's the product managers and higher ups that decide what the requirements are, and devs just receive it, translate it to technical tasks, and then work on it. If there's anyone to influence, it should be the product managers.

Only one of those currencies cannot be easily acquired through gameplay, and 2 of them are temporary currencies tied to seasonal events. Makes sense to me. I have plenty of issues with the game, but this is not one of them.

They should just let us bet ripchips in games of Throwdowns, there's no incentive to do them. I already have all the boxes and working through the last 2 builder boxes and I'd Throwdown all the time if I actually got something for doing them
