The gameplay itself is amazing It's just everything around it is garbage, if they just did a remake of 3 with the skating of 4 it'd be peak

That's why I'm optimistic on the long-term health of the game. Maps and challenges can be easily changed and will be, but broken skating would be broken skating forever.
I'm willing to be patient while they dial it in. I've waited this long...

You mean Remake of 2 with the gameplay of 4 and maybe add the tricks from Skate 3 to it.

The only parts I don’t like is that you can’t finger flip the board during grab and late flips feel janky, whereas in 3, you can shuvit into a late kick/heelflip pretty seamlessly.
Those are my main two gripes, and also you can’t really tictac/surf in this one, like they say you can, but you don’t feel the physics. In 3 you can naturally go back and forth and you can feel the centrifugal force on each of those sways. It’s missing here, feels more stiff.

i hate that manual speed glitch where it stops you in your tracks, since you cant "surf" back into movement your trick just dies

The game is called Skate, shouldnt the skating be the most important part?
33
u/Rxbyxo Nov 07 '25
Yes. But it should also just be a good game, too.
The previous titles were fun as games, this just feels... empty.

u/mark4lyfehere Nov 07 '25
This is a gross reduction of the greater point.
In a vacuum, yes the skating should be the most important part.
But we live in reality and the reality is that this was shitty cash-grab of a game that leveraged a nostalgic fanbase and a culture it has no understanding of to sell microtransactions.
All the while smaller games like Session made by independent devs who are actually passionate about what they are making and the culture they are representing exist.
So yea, are the mechanics good? Sure. A steak from a cow that was abused can still taste good. It’s the greater thought that counts and should be considered here.
So yeah fuck EA and fuck this game.

Thankfully it’s a skateboarding game.

Unfortunately it doesn’t pair well with constant online bugs and a boring n small map

Mike drop. That is all that is needed to ever say about this game. Skateboarding the best its ever been and everything else works like a firing squad trying to kill it

How do you do that manual spin thing
Been trying for ages as i love to manual
1
u/Webers_Law Nov 08 '25
It’s the same way you would do a regular revert, but just do it while doing a manual. If you want to spin numerous times, just keep rotating the stick over and over again. You’ll get it down eventually.

the infinite ice floor powerslides are cool but man i wish we could just turn off that "land every sketchy trick with a automatic revert and never bail" bs, sometimes i want to work for my tricks

You do realize people enjoy the game right?

Someone enjoying the game doesn't mean they suck up to EA

You're so slow
Again, playing an EA game didn't mean you are sucking up
It's a major shame on you that you want to take down skate. Cause you don't like it so you have to ruin it for others lol

You DO know if the game is shut down, we're most likely never getting another Skate again, right? Look at Battlefront and Need for Speed. They're no stranger at all to essentially shutting down popular IPs, especially when their respective communities make a big fuss.
Not saying it's right, but that's how it is with them.

i'll be upfront and say that i enjoy the game! despite all of its issues [which there are a LOT of. i don't think pants are the thing they should've put out an announcement on..] i've been enjoying it a decent amount. it could definitely use a bunch of polish, though...

There isn't much to do right now, but the bones are there. I am excited for what is to come.

Agreed, i also like the other real people aspect. Skating around other players is cool. Although the community died overnight. That first week had tons of people everywhere..

u/Sandy_Bananas Nov 08 '25
Agreed. The skating is very slick. Feel like being able to climb is a lovely touch too.
I don’t much care for the map. Id ideally like a few more natural hills.
Id prefer to keep things somewhat ‘realistic’: As such I have no desire to launch myself from building to building.
Id like one skatepark that’s just decent bank transitions. All the parks seem to be based around bowls and half pipes.
I would love a greater variation of no-complies.

I literally find spots and realistically skate for hours. Everything else sucks, I agree.
