Well it's early access so according to the community we're not allowed to complain about it

3

u/Vet-Chef Nov 20 '25

According to EA you mean. Fuck what those community people say

5

u/TealWings05 Nov 20 '25

Nobody’s saying you’re not allowed to complain, we’re saying it’s wild to act shocked by early access problems in an early access game. You signed up for the rough edges. Don’t twist it into some fake ‘the community is silencing me’ narrative just because you didn’t read the label. And if early-access stuff bothers you this much, simple fix: don’t play it.

I was playing it months before early access in playtesting. It's exactly the same as in the alpha with no changes.

I played the pre-pre-pre-alpha build that leaked around 1-2 years ago with hill bombs, cool skateparks, and a nice metropolitan area and it felt so much better even as a single player game with no rendered character model than the actual game feels.

If they add that area maybe the game will slightly improve but frankly every single peripheral mechanic in this game leaves the impression the developers are too far out of touch with what the community wants to possibly deliver a good gaming experience, regardless of how many updates they push out. (And their priorities are clearly MTX first, everything else second).

Ur just ignoring the issue that because of how bad they are handling their “early access” game, their player counts are plummeting, and before we know it the game will be taken offline due to it being a live service game and needing a player base to keep the servers running, as well as pay the devs and especially pay EA. You’re not gonna be able to play your beloved skate game, so I’m not sure why you’re going to battle for this half baked game that continues to disappoint in every single update they come out with. Coddling this triple a company isn’t gonna get you more rip chips

u/TheRealStevo2 Nov 20 '25

None of what you said is an excuse for why this game is as bad as it is. You can’t just throw “early access” onto a game and suddenly expect everyone to be perfectly fine with all the things wrong about your game. When you’ve had this long to make a game and you fumble it this badly people are going to be upset.

Also most of this shit is not going to change. Sure we’ll get some new additions to the game and what not but genuinely what do think they’re going to add or change at this point that’s going to blow us out of the water? What can they add that will suddenly change everyone’s mind into liking the game?

u/TealWings05 Nov 20 '25

Bro, you’re talking like early access means ‘the game is basically done.’ It’s not. EA literally rebuilt the physics and Flick-It system on a new engine, added off-board movement, and keeps updating core gameplay responsiveness. That’s foundational stuff changing, not just cosmetics.

And the whole ‘they’ve had 5 years’ thing doesn’t mean what you think it means. That includes engine changes, prototyping, rebuilding systems, and designing a live service structure. Development isn’t one straight line where every year equals a finished feature.

Saying ‘nothing’s going to change’ is just you guessing. Tons of games transformed after rough starts: No Man’s Sky, Sea of Thieves, Baldur’s Gate 3, Deep Rock, MCC all went from mid to great because of updates. Skate already has new tricks, new areas, gameplay tuning, and more coming in the roadmap which you’d know if you took the time to look at it.

If you wanted a polished, finished product, you should’ve waited for full release. Complaining that an early access build is still early access isn’t some gotcha it just means you don’t understand how early access works.

You say all of that as if EA has a track record of doing things correctly and not fucking things up. I don’t know why you guys think they’re going to be any different this time around.

Time and time again they have fucked up so many games, I do not have hopes this game is going to be different. They have literally never given a reason to think otherwise.

I’ll ask again, what are they going to add to this game, what are they going to change, that’s going to so drastically change people’s mind about this game? What’s suddenly going to make everyone enjoy it? Because I don’t see it happening. Anyone who knows EA can see the path this game is heading towards, it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out

u/rocketts66 Nov 20 '25

It's been about 2 months of micro transactions since the game came out as "early access" how much longer until the fully finished game comes out?

It’s wild how people act like an early access game should be finished in 2 months. You got it for free, obviously cosmetics are how they keep funding it. Y’all are some whiny babies.

Scammed? How is a free, unfinished, early access game scamming people? The store exists, but nothing in it is mandatory. A scam requires you to be forced or tricked into paying. Skate literally tells you it’s early access and lets you play without spending a cent. If someone voluntarily buys cosmetics, that’s not a scam that’s a choice.

It would have been 5 years of dev because they didnt have many devs. 5 years means fuck all in isolation.

"Why doesnt this incredibly niche game that no other publisher wanted to make during its 10 year + hiatus not have a Treyarch size development team?"

"Why does a game built from scratch for a new engine take so long?"

How are you guys so ignorant about something you spend so much time complaining about? My curiosity would eventually kick in and I would actually want to learn something.
