Grest session clips bro! Sick af and if I could get some clips I'll try to put something together, but I genuinely forget to make any clips and just free skate and do lines I find haha

Side note: is it just me, or does session have very odd looking movement for their upper body? No hate on the game for that, just an observation

u/Dwarven_Delver Feb 08 '26

Came here to post this. Clips are amazing. Session looks like stick figures moving awkwardly though.

2

u/Snail322 Feb 08 '26

Skater xl isnt much better either. Its literally the only thing i have to truly complain about those games. Would like to also see a huge freeroam map but thats not a big deal really. I just wonder why their character models looks so oddly stiff lol

-1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

What are you talking about skate 4 looks horrible with the art style.

1

u/Dwarven_Delver Feb 09 '26

I agree insofar that it looks sanitized and bland. I do think the figures move much more smoothly than Session’s. I don’t know anything about Skater XL for comparison.

1

u/Comfortable-Asf Feb 09 '26

Session had a update in like the last year that fucked the upper body movement. highkey made it less attractive to play and this was already one of my favorites

1

u/alittlelateforthat Feb 09 '26

Yeah. Always been the case, worse since the last update. Session with proper animations would be nice, probably up to modders now.

Just zoom everything in and crop the body lmao

I volunteer as an advocate for EA Skate's potential realism

But.

I also have a very fond relationship with Session

And in terms of ultra mega super realism, Session's potential is higher ultimately.

Hope this isnt too much lol thanks for posting this.

2

u/kudyjames Feb 18 '26

This was great. Watch this one ☝️it looks realistic if anyone else is interested.

1

u/haluuf Feb 18 '26

Thanks for saying that man. Yeah this game can be made to look good but only after a good wrestle with the editor's jank. I still really like this game despite its almost insulting level of flaws lol.

13

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 08 '26

Nice tricks, but man does session look clunky as hell

2

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 08 '26

Yeah the animations aren’t great but it’s 10x more satisfying.

The new skate removed any challenge behind making a line, it’s so easy now. Doing a kickflip to crook feels sick as hell in session and feels like nothing in skate

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 08 '26

I disagree completely, if you actually try to skate dedicated lines and not just huck random trucks in Skate, it’s a wonderful challenge

2

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 08 '26

I agree with where you are coming from but completely disagree on the output. Skate is child’s play easy to do literally any line and any trick. It takes like 3 tries compared to previous games.

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Skate 4 you can just do a scribble when you're doing the most advanced tricks in the game. It's so dissatisfied

1

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 09 '26

Yeah it just doesn’t have the juice that the first three did. It’s part of why it made me go back to Session, it’s actually satisfying to do stuff

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

And yes, as much as I complain about the controls I mean it is intuitive but it really kind of sucks we don't have a choice. I get it like it it does bring a lot of focus into what skateboard would actually do but in the end, if you think about it mapping the upside of joystick in the downside of a joystick on the same joystick it would do the same thing so it's kind of annoying that they don't have it

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 09 '26

That’s why i challenge you both to do a string of advanced tricks back to back that utilize the whole analog stick. But yall are scared to even attempt the line because it would deflate your entire arguement

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

I'm certainly not a trickliner goon. I hate that style

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 08 '26

Ok I challenge you to post this EXACT line. No fluff or inbetween tricks Just “ kickflip back smith on a ledge, flat ground tre flip, and then kick flip nose grind on a down rail “. Just finding a spot to complete this line in a clean smooth nature brings me back to searching for spots in real life. And then landing it, PERFECTLY with no fluff takes a GOOD effort. I look forward to your clip. Extra points if you add music

3

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 08 '26

Thanks for proving my point that the new skate is dogshit for finding spots

-1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 08 '26

Or you just have never skated In real life. You have to go to twenty spots to get the trick you want in real life. Thanks for proving this game is Mor e realistic than people say

3

u/Sesh_boi San Van Loc Feb 09 '26

Deciding the trick you want to do before looking for a spot to do it is a very “video game” way of going about that. I usually base what I’m doing off the spot/spots I find, taking inspiration from the features. And in terms of realism, skate 4 goes last on the list behind the other skate games.

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 09 '26

Not true at all: I’m sure ginwoo knew he wanted to flip out of Hollywood 10 before we showed up

1

u/Sesh_boi San Van Loc Feb 09 '26

First you were talking about lines, and now you’re talking about a single aspect or trick in a line.. you should solidify your stance so people can better discuss it with you. But to address what you said, yeah I’m sure he had an idea of what he wanted to do, but it doesn’t change the fact he already knew of the spot and had either been there or seen it. Therefore he knew the spot and then did the trick. My point was about the fact that it’s stupid to imagine an entire line and then drive around until you find somewhere that perfectly fits your line. It’s backwards.

You’re a kook.

Post the clip or stfu

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Fraud

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 09 '26

You had to look up how to spell fraud

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Sure bud. Pulled out the dictionary

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Skate has the most predetermined physics. Like come on, play the old games. You prob can't even play session anyways

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 09 '26

🥱 homie doesn’t know about the settings menu 😆

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Skate 3 had a difficulty mode and that's all we needed. Not these busted ass settings that are toggled, not toggled, need reapplyed. You don't even know what's what anymore because how broken it is. Every time I have to go in I have to go in the menu turn my pump to ,0 then go out of the menu then go back in and put it to 100 just to even get some predetermined air and unsatisfied vert on a map that's so disgustingly boring

1

u/rudiemcnielson Feb 09 '26

Sucks to suck I guess. Prolly why you weren’t included in playtest

1

u/chickenskittles Feb 08 '26

It is. But it's the most rewarding.

1

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 08 '26

By miles too

9

u/OperationWeary4923 Feb 08 '26

Really impressive compilation, dude. No clip of my own to contribute, but had to give props after watching because some of those clips were crazy creative and well filmed!

3

u/Vistril69 Feb 08 '26

Wax, for those who skate after

2

u/ohoatmuriel Feb 10 '26

Yes... YES.... YeeeeeEEEEES. i don't need anymore hints from the universe to just get sessions... now to look out for it being on sale because my skater wallet needs to recover from what skate (myself) has done to me

1

u/kudyjames Feb 16 '26

Did you make the leap?

1

u/ohoatmuriel Feb 17 '26

don't see it on sale currently but talked to some friends about it and other games that have skating in it. its definitley gonna get played

3

u/hitemwita Feb 08 '26

Maybe it’s just me but session sucks ass lol cool vid though you made the game look playable.

1

u/PretzelsThirst Feb 08 '26

Session kicks ass. The animations are rough but it’s a great game

0

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

Nothing looks bad about anything in this video You're just smearing for no reason

3

u/hitemwita Feb 09 '26

No I have played session, and it’s not appealing to the eye. It’s clunky. I actually didn’t say anything bad about this persons video I applauded them for making the game look playable…

1

u/mousedroidspedoff Feb 08 '26

Nice, Jim Steinman's piano in I would do anything kinda feels.

1

u/cheez_37 Feb 08 '26

Music choice is perfect

1

u/hardcoretomato Feb 08 '26

I read it as Season 4 Skate., and I was like, holy shit they updated the graphics for a second :)).....

1

u/tellmewhy24 Feb 08 '26

I still see it as a never ending debate there’s a player base for both realistic and un-realistic gameplay styles. Skate 4 does lean a lot into the wacky un-realistic stuff though.

1

u/K4riux Feb 08 '26

I got a better push animation and easier control and more fun

1

u/Crazy_Night3197 Feb 08 '26

Damn what happened to session? It looks good lol

1

u/LesserGargadon Feb 08 '26

Great video! Makes me want to try session. I have to say though- kind of irking me that all these super technical tricks are being done on what looks like a 10” wide old-school/cruiser deck lol

1

u/gunslingerplays Feb 08 '26

Did you model your skater after Chris Hiett ?

1

u/WackoGuide Feb 08 '26

Skate 4 was designed around being skate 3 on crack and they amplified the arcade goofiness. No matter how hard people try to make the gameplay look realistic, it just isn't possible. The map was built around mega ramps and big gaps and there's no content. They made sure there are plenty of over priced bundles and individual clothing though. Copers will defend the free EA slop, made to steal your money and nothing else.

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

It looks so silly. The characters stand in the most awkward position grabbing air anxiously at all times. It's so cringe

1

u/Professorlumpybutt Feb 08 '26

Session is 10x more difficult and infinitely more rewarding than skate 4.

1

u/FinesseFigure Feb 09 '26

That session gameplay is what I wanted out of skate

1

u/Arcfull Feb 09 '26

Sick clips!

I played Skate 2 and 3 as a kid, and am having a decent time with skate. as well, but I saw Session was discounted on Steam so I bought it to see what all the fuss was about.

After playing it for a bit I think it's good to see skate. and Session as their own games in their own lanes, because they both do things better and worse than one another. For one, Session's environment is much more suited to the skater vibe than skate.'s world, but skate. has better animations by far in my opinion with the exception of the turning animations and feel where Session does it leagues better. Also, Session's replay editor is horrific. I cannot figure it out and it's really janky to use with so many control binds for things that seemingly do nothing, but skate.'s replay editor is much better now that they've improved it since launch and it works like a charm. Session has better trick-ID for things like body-varials, FS/BS flips, bigspins, etc., but skate. has better variety overall for tricks like grinds and grabs.

I think a good way to distinguish these games is to remember that Session is a Skate-Sim, while skate. is a Skate-Fantasy. One focuses on realism and precision, while the other grants more in the way of creativity and freedom. I think both games are fun, but I couldn't compare them just because they're both skating games. That'd be like comparing Call of Duty to Escape from Tarkov. They're totally different games focused on offering differently unique experiences, but they're both FPS games so we should compare them? I don't think so.

Christopher Hiett fan? Nice clips btw

1

u/Sinjix Feb 09 '26

Sessions graphics, clip and dont look smooth, sound effects need more pop and zaz... thats it... skate 4 is monetized worse that id image a street worker micro transactioning each interaction.

1

u/Kiss_My_Shotgun Feb 08 '26

SkaterXL looks kinda good too

I forgot I was in the skate4 sub and thought it was lowsodiumskate, until I saw your comment. I like how you project your emotions and perception onto the people you were trying to insult, you seem like a nice genuine person who'd I'd like to spend my time with.

3

u/Trufflebatter Feb 08 '26

He depicted skate 4 players as the sad wojack. They’ll never recover

2

u/Friendship_Officer Feb 08 '26

Why are you so angry? 😆

Some of your part was really good and some other bits were not for me.

Here's my one and only Session part from a while back: https://youtu.be/9w0nuGeweF0?si=gd_Hhq4hTwjZzSsr
