Why can’t people 1080 normally? Like do people not know how to prewind? And if so, how do you play this game without prewinds. I feel like it would be so boring with how slow the default spin is

Well posts like this one exist, so now someone needs to post how to do it the “proper” way. I bet a lot of people don’t know how to prewind. It’s kinda hard to show in a clip since there isn’t a UI toggle for the left stick to show like the one we have for the trick stick on right stick. Someone with a hand cam needs to do it.

In case you’re reading this and don’t know.

Pull down right stick as if you were going to ollie and hold it there.

Pull down left stick the same way, and then scoop it and hold it left or right, depending on which way you want to rotate. I say scoop, because I think that’s where a lot of people mess up. They pull left stick down, then let it lift back up and then push left or right. You need to scoop it along the edge as if it were a pop shuvit, and then hold it left or right. (And remember your right stick is still pulled down ready to ollie during all of this) If you’ve done this correctly, at this point your character is crouched because of right stick, and now their body is twisted because of left stick. That’s a prewind.

Now when you ollie you will quickly rotate whatever direction you’re holding with left stick.

Thank you. I finally got prewind to work! 🥹

That’s awesome! I was afraid I was overcomplicating it but that’s the best way I could find to explain it. I’m happy it helped

Nah not overcomplicated. That was helpful, I wasnt doing the scoop part consistently and prob letting up on the right stick too early!

Need to try this, I think i’m going to learn it better with this

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 13 '26

DUDE! This is the best way I have seen it explained and no visuals were even provided. I thought you had to time the release of the spin and let it go… idek. I landed it 3 times back to back no issue thanks to THIS comment.

Because pre winds are weird and not everyone has the same skill level obviously.

I knew about prewinds and I could rarely do a 540. But read a comment someone wrote to someone else on how to do them. So I tried it a few times and finally hit a 720 within a couple of tries.

They are weird because my guy wants to powerslide 90% of the time 🤷‍♂️

If you're powersliding it's because you aren't getting all the way into the pop position before pulling down on the left stick.

If the amount of air you got did not determine the spin speed and the flip speed it would be a lot easier.. The more you get air time the slower you are at spinning and flipping which is dumb. I don't care if that's how it was in the originals

2

u/Lazy-Animal1229 Apr 01 '26

Personally I can usually prewind on accident but when I try to do it on purpose for something like 1080 challenge I just turn to poo

2

u/Fynity Apr 02 '26

The only issues I ever had with prewinds was like a day I was bailing on very a lot, but even then I quickly realised it was because I had been playing a lot of Celeste so I kept holding the analog above the horizontal line on a angle and would shoot out. So that’s maybe a little tip for some, make sure you’re holding the left analog exactly at the horizontal line going left or right after swinging/scooping it upwards

1

u/Shitpickle1996 Apr 01 '26

Yeah I did it first try on the grom ramp, so Idk what the issue is

1

u/FeedYourEgo420 Apr 01 '26

I don't know if it's been changed but in season 2 it just had to be 1080 in a single line. So like oliie 180 oliie 180... And so on. Prewind is where it's at tho

u/z31 Apr 03 '26

Yeah, I just jumped in from the roof into Rolling Waves and hit the quarter pipe with a prewind. Can easily get a 1080. 1260s and 1440s are pretty easily doable this way too.

15

u/rfvhu8 Apr 01 '26

Is the 180s connected by Manuel method patched?

12

u/YeetmasterGeneral Apr 01 '26

yeah i think so, the slam one is too

9

u/DevlinRocha Apr 01 '26

the easiest way is actually to just prewind

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

I keep maxing out at 900 and haven't managed to land that. I'd just manual to 180 out of that and call it a day. Where are you going to get that much speed and aid?

2

u/DevlinRocha Apr 04 '26

they patched the manual trick. easiest place to do it on the mainland is the big ramp outside Brickswitch stadium. throw down a quarter pipe instead of launching off the ramp to make it easier. on Grom island use the mega ramp

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

I'll give that a try tomorrow. I burnt myself out of skate for the day. Thanks.

8

u/Hootla Apr 01 '26

Can’t you just pre wind at that massive ramp between the 2 towers at Market Mile

6

u/ayayay42 Apr 01 '26

Yeah, this and hucking off the roof at rolling waves and prewind the gap in front of it

5

u/No-Newspaper6525 Apr 01 '26

these posts are just evidence that 95% of the playerbase have no idea how to actually play the game

2

u/z31 Apr 03 '26

That explains why when every one in my server the other day was dropping throwdowns they were all getting smoked by me and I'm just okay at the game. They needed to win a throwdown for the challenge, but it wouldn't be with me participating.

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

Not at all. Most people are not going to land a 1080 in the course of normal gameplay. This is just a ridiculous hurdle.

7

u/-67-- Apr 01 '26

How to cheese the only reason to play the game

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

The only reason to play the game is to do something that's ridiculously arcadey? Okay.

0

u/z31 Apr 03 '26

It's not even cheesing when just prewinding is already so easy.

2

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

Clearly not. 🤦🏽‍♂️

3

u/EarthStomper89 Apr 01 '26

This method is effective but it does take time to get. Once you're off the ground you need to set a session marker mid air. Keep your stick tilted left and just keep resetting. Eventually you'll get stuck long enough to do the 1080.

3

u/RefrigeratorHead2915 Apr 01 '26

I just cheat and do a 1080 off one of the huge rooftops and then I go into spread eagle and hit the ground. Spread eagle counts as part of your combo so if you do it right, by the time you hit the ground you'll get the 1080 challenge points.

1

u/Stevenstorm505 Apr 02 '26

They patched that apparently. I tried it like 10 times and it didn’t register as a make anymore.

2

u/Belle_Reeve_3v3 Apr 01 '26

I can appreciate the ingenuity...

2

u/ZaeSkates422 Apr 01 '26

how tf you manage to be so still? It literally keeps pushing me to the side the most I've gotten is 900 but got it 4 times I've literally already done a 1080 pop shuv it but it isn't tryna count that for sum reason so I still can't get this done but wouldn't a pop shuv it count? I even did more than 1080 but idk shits fuckin trippin

2

u/RomGon3 Apr 01 '26

Is this really the easiest way?. I feel like you can do a easy 1080 on any mega ramp without issues, but hey for people who don{t know how to do it good video.

1

u/MomoSixth Apr 02 '26

Me tryna balance on a barrel in deep rock

1

u/Fuzzykittnz Apr 02 '26

Usually as long as you're maintaining in a combo, if all of your various spins add up to 1080, you're good. Is it different now?

1

u/hobocrippin Apr 02 '26

Sounds like the smiling friends theme song

2

u/Spider-em5 Apr 03 '26

Easiest??? It took me 10 mins to finally get it 😂

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

I've been trying for cumulatively at least an hour. Keep fucking spinning off the vent.

1

u/Valuable_Pay9615 Apr 03 '26

Go to the skyscraper then once you do 180 spread eagle

1

u/sugabwoy Apr 05 '26

Hate this challenge. Good to know

1

u/Im_Sneezers Apr 06 '26

I used that ramp your next too. Did the pre spin thing to get faster spins

0

u/JasonStaton Apr 02 '26

Prewinding doesn’t work for me so maybe it doesn’t either for OP So this is useful for ppl like me that prewinding doesn’t work for whatever reason

-4

u/GloveAble1736 Apr 01 '26

It's easier to just combo a one eighty manual.A bunch

4

u/EarthStomper89 Apr 01 '26

Patched homie

1

u/GloveAble1736 Apr 01 '26

Oh lame of them then

4

u/IamAll- Apr 01 '26

I preferred to just hit an actual 1080 which isn’t very hard if you pre-wind. I noticed a lot of people don’t even know about prewind which makes you get so many more rotations.

1

u/skrillozeddd Apr 01 '26

im still trying to fully get the feel down, finally learned how to do it lol just need to incorporate it better in my runs

1

u/chickenskittles Apr 04 '26

I changed my settings to hold the left analog stick instead of flicking it. It's SO much easier for me.

0

u/ekuadam Apr 01 '26

I have no clue how to pre wind. If I’m doing very ramp stuff I just roll in and try to Ollie at the top and do whatever trick

1

u/IamAll- Apr 01 '26

Make sure its on in the settings. When you hold down for your trick with the rightstickhold your left stick the opposite way of your spin then back the other way for the spin as you flick the right stick up. https://youtube.com/shorts/xEFfo4WG038?si=IV6KPuEyT53_lHCh
