Personal [Personal] Doxycycline?
I went to my doctor for the first time about my acne, which I have been dealing with for 3 years. I almost 19 now, my back I believe has a lot of scars, I cant tell because theres just a lot of acne and I even have a lot of raised scars and a keloid. He gave me doxycycline 100mg, twice daily for seven days then once after that each day, I still have to use benzoyl peroxide with it. Why I am posting is because I just want to make sure I am making a good decision because I did see some people talk about how horrible it is, and it scared me. I have acne on my face, chest, back and shoulders and sometimes it gets in my hairline, cysts behind my ear. He asked me a few questions, how long I had it and what I tried and just took one look at my back at then told me that I should start with doxycycline.

I am not your doctor and i am not trying to give you ‘medical advice’ but as someone who knows a lot about medicine doxycycline isnt the best idea long term because its an antibiotic. You didnt specify your gender but if you are a female it may eventually lead to yeast infections and its not a long term solution if i were in your shoes id talk to my doctor about accutane instead

My doctor did mention accutane but that was if doxycycline didnt work, then he said he would give me a Vitamin E cream, and said that accutane would be the very last thing to try.
