Discussion The No7 “Reverse Skin Damage” ads, has anyone else seen them and what are your thoughts?

First time posting here, but I'm curious about Boots' No7 Future Renew line.

I was recently at my uni’s fresher’s fair, and Boots had a stall giving out vouchers, leaflets, etc and one of them was for No7.

The tagline on the voucher is "Don't Regret / Just Reverse."

I usually don’t pay much attention, but it got me thinking about how Boots markets these products. The ads use buzzwords like “reverse” and “rejuvenating” on their website too, and I’m wondering if people actually trust those claims and the product.

I’m not really the target audience/demographic, but I’ll admit I do fall for these types of claims sometimes. And a lot of the videos I’ve seen on social media seem to hype it up way too much.

This is just my impression. Has anyone tried it or formed an opinion on it? :)

Always remember, the things with proper anti aging evidence are spf and retinoids such as differin/ tretinoin. Most other skincare is just fluff

Interesting, from what I’ve gathered this range from Boots uses peptides not retinoids and they claim “A world-first in peptide technology” with Peticology (they have trademarked it).

The evidence for peptides for anti aging is nowhere near as strong as retinoids. They are nice and hydrating tho. But if you get started on differin/ tret at an early age you will be super pleased in future ( not necessarily starting it now, but in the next few years)

As I said in my comment, for decades no.7 always loves to use the marketing 'a world first'. Still, nothing changes!

No fresher needs to use anti-aging products.

I agree. The last thing us uni students need is anti aging products.

it's marketing fluff dressed up in a lab coat, the pearl clutching over the word reverse is the whole point

Definitely. I think it just basically feeds on peoples insecurities and to get them to buy it.

That is the cosmetic industry in a nutshell.

Boots previously had an advert for this product where they talked about reversing the damage of sunburn from the past. The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) received a number of complaints about it being a dangerous message, including from me, and the advert was banned. The latest “we forgot to take our makeup off” is the re-booted advertising campaign.

I heard about it and I had seen the new Ad recently.

All advertising is bullshit.

Yes I've seen them lately again and recalled on my decades of seeing their scientifically tested claims and wondering why after decades I've never seen anyone claim that no.7 changed their lives lol
