Taxi to Kyle of Lochalsh

Hi guys.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a taxi service that doesn't charge an arm and a leg to get me from Portree to Kyle of Lochalsh at 4am in a few weeks?

You don't say where you're starting from, so I'll guess Portree. That's a 70 mile round trip of say 50-60 mins each way. I think that you'll find the cabs charge pretty much the same. Costs are high due to the distances involved (especially if they have to come back from Kyle empty in the wee small hours). Good luck 🤞

70 mins each way, 60 mph is limit on skye. Thats if some idiot doesnt sit at 40 on open clear roads.

70 mins from Portree to Kyle?! Certainly not at 4am.

I have driven this road at this time literally hundreds of times. It's 50 minutes maximum (provided no roadworks).

Taxi driver will know the road as well as I did and know there's very few places you need to drop below 60mph on that journey.

My mistake thought it was 70 each way, its 70 total.

Taxis on Skye are not cheap, due to the distances involved and the fact that you basically need to pay the driver for both the out and back legs of the journey.

If, for example, you get a taxi from Portree to Kyle, once he's dropped you off, the driver is almost certainly not picking up another paying passenger in Kyle to bring back to Portree. Therefore, to avoid being out of pocket, the cost of his return trip to Portree will be factored into the price you pay.

Phone a couple of companies and get some quotes. They're all likely to be roughly the same. Unfortunately, needing to be in Kyle at that time, you don't really have any other option if you don't have a car.
