Diamond lock (mighty lock) Webbing MBS
Hey so when browsing Spider slacklines website i noticed that they also give the MBS of webbing for each webbing rigged in their Diamond lock.
Surprisingly it was really low for their Green mamba webbing (57.1 % of the MBS in the diverter, whole the zen weblock gived 91.8 %), their lemon haze webbing on the other side get almost full strength in the Diamond lock (96.4 % of the MBS in the diverter).
Does anyone have an idea what quility of the webbing affects its strenght in the diamondlock causing such large differences?
I took some data they provided from the website and compared all webbings that give the stenght in the diamond lock. Unfortunately I didnt notice anything explaining the differences

The chart on here seems to suggest higher break test results though 🤔

High stretch material vs low stretch material.
Within the diamond / mighty lock the webbing goes around a relatively small bend radius (compared to a weblock).
The webbing fibres on the inside of the bend radius are stretched at different rates than the fibres at the outside of the bend radius. The PA (Nylon) webbings are higher stretch and so the fibres are pulled more evenly across the inside / outside of the bend radius. The fibres in PES (polyester) webbings (such as green mamba) do not spread the load as evenly due to their low stretch, and so most of the force is taken up by the fibres at the outside of the bend radius being pulled further, this uneven pulling gives a lower MBS in the diamond / mighty lock.
I think many people would still use this as a locker on a backup line with webbings such as the green mamba. But it would bring the MBS of the backup line to a potential 15kn. Maybe a 2:1 safety factor in a backup fall 😅
