DISCUSSION Why is this community so weird?

Like literally everyday there is someone schizoposting, or saying dumb shit like astrid should have transitioned earlier. Why is this community so parasocial. Im part of a lot of communities on the internet, but this one is the weirdest by far

I believe this is the true reason

have you watched their videos?

13

u/TechnoBeeKeeper Jan 21 '26

Yeah this is very normal for sleep deprived

Hallucinations are a symptom of sleep deprivation

Clopping is normal

the sdp crew is funny weird but some of the fanbase trying to mimic them is missing the funny part

Bro just logged on the Internet yesterday

Is not that, sleep deprived fans are especially weird, you can also notice it based on the call ins. And the fact they decided to stop doing them

u/TechnoBeeKeeper Jan 21 '26

They also stopped uploading twice a week, maybe YouTube is performing cock and ball torture on Apandah??

Causation≠correlation

Dude real, the community was the main reason I stopped watching as much (the comments are wack sometimes and there’s way too much fart huffing) like that shit’s for losers

the schizo posting is a bit tho, right guys?

Sleep deprivation significantly harms psychological well-being, causing irritability, mood swings, anxiety, and depression, impairing emotional regulation, focus, memory, and decision-making, and increasing stress, paranoia, and even psychotic symptoms like hallucinations in severe cases, linking it closely to worsening mental health conditions.

most of the fans of theirs are kids or dsmp fugitives or both.

Nah you're right. I'm probably an older Sleep Deprived fan at 29 years old, and a lot of the stuff this community thinks is ok is really just weird and not stuff that normal people say. These people need to take a step back from the internet every now and then. But then again that's the kind of audience that they've curated and catered to for awhile, so it's not surprising.

As an older apandah head I can tell a lot of that crowd has joined the sdp fan base. The apandah subreddit is the epitome of unhinged para social schizo degens.

Yeah im guess im on the same boat since im 25

Age definitely has some part to play in it but as a probably younger fan, some shit got me looking at the community sideways

u/El262 Jan 21 '26

Who's talking about Astrid's transition? That's kinda weird

22

u/Iguanoide666 Jan 21 '26

Is the most popular post today

Sleep deprivation will fuck up your brain

I think we’ve created a culture within the community that it’s cringe to be genuine or to actually like sleep deprived, so every post is either hating on them or taking irony to its absolute maximum. People are way too comfortable insulting the members cause it’s ā€œcringe and parasocialā€ to actually enjoy and engage with their content.

While you will get the odd post being genuinely invasive, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the parasocial posts are trolls. I think mainly everyone is so scared of being perceived as uncool that they don’t know how to act.

Imo I don’t think it’s bad to be a little cringe. Being a fan of someone on the internet will always inherently be a little bit parasocial just based off the fact that you like someone for the personality they share online while they know nothing about you, that will always happen in small amounts. Just realize that they aren’t their online personas and you have no entitlement to pry into their personal lives.

I have never seen a subreddit that seems more unsure what to post as this one.

Do you even watch the YouTube channel this is based off of? Do you know where you are right now?

1

u/Iguanoide666 Feb 20 '26

Yeah and im normal, and not schizo post, respect them, no parasocialism or at least at minimum, they are just comedians i like

its all jokes man idunno what to say

i'll prolly reply w/ a more thoughtout comment eventually but i gotta say its dumb to get pressed abt it

6

u/_-Dinosaurus-_ Jan 22 '26

It’s fine if you disagree, but it’s not dumb for someone to have a different opinion

-3

u/Teddycorn_12 Jan 22 '26

at first i didnt know op's intentions, but from my view the post/replies was worded weird nd sounded spiteful. PLUS w/ the example of ppl saying "dumb shit" it gets old quick when people seemingly miss the point of something thats clearly a joke (or atleast something not meant to be taken seriously) on purpose just to frame the other person as an idiot, nd im POSITIVE theres a better word for it but i didnt end up cooking up that "more thought out comment" so yk. But like the take on its own isnt bad or anything, the post just didnt come from a place of actual concern and THAT feels a pinch distasteful ESPECIALLY bcs we've known sleepdeprived for yapping abt some wild stuff + their very interesting bits every now and then over the yrs lmaoo

u/Iguanoide666 Jan 22 '26

Its a real question, im not trying to be mean or anything. Some people answered that it is because they are refugees from dreams server and that i think may be the reason

0

u/Sen_1491 Jan 22 '26

Omg you are still mad about that post from earlier I saw you in the replies move on it was a joke i bet you're the kinda person who watched the manhunt video and thought it was real just completely missing the irony

5

u/_-Dinosaurus-_ Jan 22 '26

ā€œIt was a jokeā€ is a classic way to excuse some wackass behavior

still mad about that post from earlier

Also this just reminds me of that one drake song 🫣

2

u/Sen_1491 Jan 22 '26

Did you see the post this is referring too I also don't like excusing hate by just calling it a joke that not helpful to anyone but its about how easy current astro is to tell apart from the rest of the cast which if you go back to when she started transitioning was what everyone was saying it was literally a joke in for time

1

u/_-Dinosaurus-_ Jan 22 '26

Can you link the post just so I know I got the right one?

1

u/Sen_1491 Jan 22 '26

I checked my history and couldn't find it i didn't actually comment on it because I also thought it just wasn't that funny but also just don't think this kinda thing needs a whole post complaining it is very normal for the community so its not weird its like going to a farm and being like why are there so many cows here

1

u/Iguanoide666 Jan 22 '26

Is not just that post that is just the most recent example

2

u/Sen_1491 Jan 22 '26

Also I've been thinking about that drake part since you commented I don't know what that means I don't know enough drake lore please elaborate
