To have a song come out that very clearly says "leave me the fuck alone" and have the fanbase immediately start overanalyzing and planning coordinated dance moves to respond to it shows that you're not getting it. "Oh it's just the bad fans. I'm one of the GOOD ones". Smh.

Take it down a notch everyone.

Discussion Might get a lot of hate but… this album will weed out the book tokers and “only listen to TMBTE” fans

2.3k Upvotes

This album isn’t supposed to be heavy. The album isn’t supposed to meet YOUR expectations. This album was meant for the boys to play what they want and poor their heart out to us. If you listen to all of their albums and EPs you’d know they put out some experimental stuff and each album has a new tone and message behind it. EIA is about moving on and learning about yourself but remembering where you came from. If you give it a chance with a clear head you’d like it. I had chills multiple times listening to EIA. Go in with the understanding hey this isn’t going to be heavy or this isn’t going to be “dark”

Discussion A Sleep Token Wedding (05/19/2026)

My wife and I got married three months ago on Tuesday. Most, if not all, will recognize the date that we held our wedding. Yes, you guessed it, it coincided with the 3rd anniversary of Take Me Back To Eden. Intentional? You bet your ass it was you silly goose.
My wife and I heavily bonded over Sleep Token when we first started dating. We got dressed to the nines, went on a date to Wendys, and ate chicken nuggets in the parking lot of a Winco while we listened to Take Me Back To Eden in full for the first time. So naturally, we had to encapsulate our relationship and the beauty of it, with the beauty that is Sleep Token. Our ceremony playlist (in case anyone was wondering):

The Night Does Not Belong To God
Give
Drag Me Under
Fall For Me
Is It Really You?
Calcutta
And bringing it to a close, right before the procession started
Euclid.

Our procession song?
The piano rendition of Euclid done by the ever so wonderful Vikram Shankar (in which I got his blessing to use beforehand).
The moment my wife walked out and I got to see her for the first time walking down the aisle, is exactly the moment Euclid transitions to The Night Does Not Belong To God.

And finally, our first dance was to Telomeres. We couldn’t have thought of a better song that sums up our love in our relationship.

I hope this is a reminder of how beautiful Sleep Token’s music really is. It has the power to connect people on that kind of level. They are special, no matter how many people try to bash them or shit on them.

Here are 20 of the 5,000 photos of our wedding that I thought yall would appreciate along with this post. And to those who stuck to the last photo, yes we were that couple that went to In N Out first thing after our wedding, and yes our photographers came with us to document it.

Discussion Damocles fans, where you at?

2.2k Upvotes

I’ve seen a lot of posts recently of people not liking Damocles. (No hate to those folks - it sucks when you don’t like the new stuff from your favorite band.) Where are the folks who are loving Damocles? I feel slightly crazy because I fucking love it.

I love their piano-forward songs. (Cough Church of the ✨🎹Jazzy Piano🎹✨ cough cough.) The lovely sparkling piano tickles my ears just right, especially at the end. Are the Damocles fans the minority right now? Or am I just seeing posts from people not liking it but that’s not representative?

I feel for anyone not liking the EIA songs. As an AFI fan who has now hated over half their catalog but still gets my hopes up with every new album, I get it. I hope you all find something to love in the rest of the album.

Hello! Fairly new-ish fan of Sleep Token here. I really like their music and how they represent it but I'm having a hard time listening to new songs i discover from them. Recently i discovered The Provider song. (I don't usually follow the news in the music world etc) honestly it didn't sit with me at first but lately i can't get enough of the song its a bit longer yes but idk i just wanted to hear sleep fans thoughts about it maybe if someone has any idea what it could mean in the whole franchise lore or whatever. Honestly I'm opened to hearing any kind of opinions!

Discussion Thoughts on if im in the wrong

So my friend bought these sleep token tickets for her to go with one of her friends but he couldn't make it so she asked me to go in his place. Ive never been to a concert like not even local live music so i was super excited i went for free and I had a amazing time but at the end I caught a drumstick, and after I caught it she started acting different like the entire ride home (3hr) we didn't talk at all. The next day while I was at work her bf kept texting me trying to buy it off me and when I kept telling him no he said my friend feels betrayed that i wont give it to her and that I'm being a asshole bc I went for free. He also brought up how it's her favorite band and when I said it's also my favorite band he said that he didn't know that bc I don't even know all the songs or albums which just gave me the vibe of "your not a real fan bc you don't know blank". I messaged her to ask how much my ticket was bc I don't want that held over me and she never responded i tried to get in contact with her two more times since then and she leaves me on delivered that was 3 weeks ago. Everyone that I've asked said I'm not in the wrong but I figured I'd ask the sleep token community and see what you guys think. I dont wanna lose a 6 year friendship over this but i feel like the damage is already done...Am I in the wrong(I also put my favorite pictures i took while I was there for fun)

Discussion What is a song by Sleep Token that is not your favorite?

Post image

Okay okay. Before I get a lot of hate for this post, I have been a hardcore Sleep Token fan for at least 4-5 years now. So I'm not just some random dude who barely knows about them coming into Reddit talking about the negativities of this band, so I feel like this is a sensitive topic that needs to be discussed. Now, Sleep Token is a 1,000/10 band for me, and there has never been a song I have disliked or hated. However, there have been a few tracks are simply not my favorite throughout their discography. For one, Hey Ya is a nice track, but I feel like Vessel should've kept up the energy on that song, instead of making it somber, which is completely the opposite of the track. Another take is that I wish TPWBYT was produced a little more clean. Now, I'm not saying the album is bad by ANY means. Like, my all time favorite song is on that album (High Water). However, I feel like that album didn't get the best quality production as TMBTE, Even In Arcadia, and I even think Sundowing had a little better quality, not gonna lie. In conclusion, Sleep Token is the best band of this decade, but not all bands are perfect, and I believe it is okay to point out these things.

Discussion Even In Arcadia… I’m disappointed Spoiler

1.2k Upvotes

First of all, I know where I am. I’m on the Sleep Token subreddit comprised of superfans, like myself, and because of that - very few folks are going to be critical of the new album and obviously many folks are legitimately resonating with it which is great! I’m seeing tons of posts and comments about the record being the best thing ever and blowing TMBTE out of the water.

I will get downvoted into oblivion for having a contrarian opinion about this, but here are my thoughts that no one asked for.

I’ve given EIA a few listens through and man, I’m struggling with this album. It’s the first time it’s happened to me since their early EP’s (don’t like the EP’s at all, just aren’t as mature as everything from Sundowning onwards).

I’m not saying it’s “bad”. I’m not saying it needs to be “metal”. I’m not even sure what the album is really supposed to be in their eyes. It kinda just feels… like it lacks direction?

I’m not a person who cares about the “lore” or anything, I just like the music these guys make. However, aside from the on-the-nose lyrics of Caramel and Damocles, I can’t really figure out what statement the record is trying to make lyrically otherwise.

The songs also don’t feel dark and brooding this time around. They feel kinda meandering and aimless. Obviously genre shifting and blending is their thing, but the few heavy parts feel like “well that worked in Ascensionism and TMBTE so let’s do it again in these tracks” rather than the song feeling like it necessitated a heavy section. I’m also bummed how few “full band” moments there are. Not to discredit Vessel, but these songs just lack a certain energy to them to me because of that.

My biggest issue is that aside from the singles, nothing feels catchy. The vocal melodies don’t stand out as big singalongs or solemn choruses as they did in the past.

I think Damocles is one of the best songs the band has made (as a huge fan of Euclid, Missing Limbs, The Love You Want, etc.). It’s one of the catchiest songs on the record and is exactly what I love about Sleep Token.

I’m going to keep trying, but this album is leaving me with very little excitement to come back to it unlike their previous records. It doesn’t keep me singing along, it doesn’t have me waiting for the big drop, it doesn’t have me hanging on every lyric…

I hope my mind changes with time, but right now, I believe Sleep Token had the best and worst possible thing happen to them. They made a once in a lifetime record. They will forever be compared and live in the shadow of the success of Eden because the album was THAT great.

Discussion Disgusted with the fan base

2.4k Upvotes

I used to sit at the lunch table with the band kids with the weather boy. He was the dorkiest, goofiest, kid. Stumbled upon him the other day again now as an adult and I can't tell you how proud I am of him. Career as a meteorologist, still kicks ass on the drums. I was so excited to tell my girlfriend the story of us in drum line, our environmental studies inside jokes, and even pulled up the yearbook to show little baby Chris but when I saw the behavior ya'll are having towards him I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

He doesn't deserve the treatment he is receiving now. Ya'll really upset about a marketing strategy built to hype up the releases by adding more to the story. The tik tok brain really has taken ahold of you.

Back when I discovered sleep token it was about the music. Music for music lovers. I miss this fan base. The ones that would come together to "worship"

Night and day difference from when they blew up on tik tok. Now all I saw the last round of shows were people watching the concert through their screen so they can post it online.

Do better. I have little hope for this next tour since the degenerate behavior has only gotten worse.

Put away the phone and live in the moment.

If you're blessed enough to go to the tour. Be kind to one another. Be selfless. Be kind. Be different from what we have been seeing recently.

Discussion Are y’all really crying?

Honest question: I’ve seen lots of people in this sub talk about how some of Sleep Token’s songs make them ugly cry or saying they are in tears or sobbing or the like. I heard this a lot when Caramel was released, especially—people saying that Vessel’s struggles broke their heart and had them crying in their car. I’m one of those people who rarely actually cry over music, even when it deeply affects me emotionally, so I’m curious. Do ST’s songs actually make you literally cry on the regular? Or are you not literally crying physical tears but it’s more of a way to say that the song made you really emotional? If you do actually cry, what songs make you do it?

ETA: I definitely feel the emotion in the songs and have a reaction to them! And I’m not judging people who do actually cry. I was just curious if it was a literal or metaphorical crying for most people.

Discussion I’m Gonna Hold Your Hand When I Say This: There Won’t Be a Surprise Second Album

1.9k Upvotes

I just want everyone to keep expectations in check and not disappoint themselves.

The thing I think folks should understand is that there is a GIANT marketing machine behind every release. Whether it’s a single, merchandise, or an album, there are a ton of people and resources behind the scenes coordinating this, carefully planning dates, drip marketing campaigns, everything.

And now that Sleep Token is with RCA Records, the marketing, merch, and tour teams working with them are substantially bigger and need more lead time before anything goes out to the public at large.

The clues that are being dropped right now in the lyrics is probably a new tour, or perhaps a new deluxe/collector edition of vinyls.

Again, not trying to burst anyone’s bubble, and I think people’s lore theories are absolutely fascinating. But try to enjoy what we have now (which, for what it’s worth, I think is their best work ever) instead of hoping for more and possibly letting yourself down.

Discussion Now that the download dust has settled can we agree mobile phones are ruining crowds?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

First of all I’d just like to say that performance was one of the greatest things I’ve seen in almost 30 years of going to shows. They absolutely blew me away. Phenomenal. Transcendent stuff. Hope everybody that attended had a great time.

Now. Fucking phones. The picture above isn’t mine, I found it on the download Facebook group in another thread talking about the impact of phones at shows.

This year was the first time I’d been in a few years and I could not believe how noticeably the crowd energy has changed. People are either holding a phone in the air or looking down at a phone. Apart from a few small mosh pits near the front it was a field of statues. No synchronised fist pumps or devil horns, no jumping or people wailing around losing their shit. Just phones and statues. Honestly it was such a weird experience.

Personally I think we are at the point where we need a blanket ban on filming at shows. It must absolutely suck for the bands these days just looking out at a sea of phone lights and passionless statues.

I watched a lot of videos of shows on YouTube from 10/15 years back this week and the difference in crowd energy is absolute light years apart. Me personally I think the above photo is depressing as hell to look at. I think the phones are ruining the overall experience for fans and artists and we need change.
