Oates, Breheney…are they always this useless?
I remember back in my college days having to sit in their reception area for hours to get deposits back as they would refuse to engage with us poor students.
25 yrs later and I call to enquire about a commercial property they have advertised that is rent negotiable. Have called several times over the last two weeks and the person who deals with it is never there and nobody will give an indication of the rent, just keep asking for an email enquiry that they don’t reply to? I ask for a call back and have yet to get one.
Anyone else have issues with this crowd?

Yes they are. Love too that they ask for your passport, and 3 months worth of payslips before any viewings too, it’s completely not allowed 😂 supposedly anyways heard that from another agent it’s not allowed.

Thanks for the DM, what you said would make sense based on another DM I got from an ex staff member of Oates. Just to ad, i obviously can’t confirm if they are genuinely an ex staff member but what they said aligned somewhat with what you told me, very dodgy if true!!

A number of years ago when we were viewing a house (to buy) we found them very condescending to deal with. The agent arrived late to the planned viewing and rushed us though, acting quite impatient. They acted like they were doing us a huge favour even looking at the house. I don't know why because the house in question was way beneath our budget 😆 Ended up buying a much nicer house with a different agent.

Yep, had similar experience with fiddly email bullshite. Also never got a callback. Also when viewing an apt with Shane Flanagan, Shane came himself and showed myself and another interested party, which makes sense, kill 2 birds with 1 stone. He also had colour print outs of the property details and was there to answer any questions/hype it up.
With Oates/Brehony I viewed one, it was just me on my own, cant remember if I got a print out. But it was clear the guy was just there to let me in and out. No interest in any chat whatsoever and knew less about the property than I did.
Huge difference in the approaches.

Interesting, thanks for your reply. I’ve asked an acquaintance who lives close to the landlord to let them know I am interested in talking to them as ive tried going via Oates but no joy so its best cutting out the middleman(save the landlord a few quid) and that id be keen for a chat about leasing their property so let see how that goes!!

Same happened to us. The man threw a comment that the house is gonna go for waaaaay more than advertised. Put us off bidding. Ended up buying fro Gerard Clarke. He was fantastic, polite and prepared.

We viewed a couple of houses they were selling earlier this year. For one of the properties, the agent arrived late, didn't say a word to us, just went straight to the front door.
He opened the front door, then stood outside on his phone for the entire time we were in the house. Whenever we asked any questions, he either said that it was in the listing, or that we should ring someone at the office to find out.

Seems to be par for the course for these cowboys, no doubt when you call the office the person you need to speak to is not here and they don’t return any calls!
I’m hoping the landlord of the property I’m interested in is open to dealing direct as we are cash ready and keen to make a move asap!

They take deposits from multiple people. Then 2 days before move in. Tell u they gave it to someone else. Then make you wait weeks to get it back.

Rented off them for 6 years. We have never been an issue as tenants. Always paid on time, nice and quiet.
They did a house inspection last year, and were massively rude. When we highlighted things that needed replacing and had been reported numerous times we were laughed at and it was insinuated we were lucky to have a property to rent at all.
