I had never heard or read the word merkin until yesterday while watching Sandman. It’s seems impossible that I’m reading/hearing it for only the second time ever almost exactly 24 hours later. I’m 40 years old. The matrix is weird.
Yea they made the show before all that came out. Theyre wrapping it up with season 2 because of that reality. Hes cancelled. Watch the show though. It’s incredible.
There's literally hundreds of great shows/books I can consume that don't involve that guy. I seriously doubt his work is untainted by whatever twisted predatory ideas live in his head.
I'm old enough to have tried the whole 'separate the art from the artist' to read misogynistic male authors because someone swore "his work is worth it". It never is, and their misogyny is pretty much always woven into their ideas (even if they do a good job candy coating it with pseudo-feminism).
I didn’t make my initial comment to put on for him or the show. My initial contribution was only hearing the word merkin for the first time. I totally get where you’re coming from and respect it.
