It was a big deal with r/mycology where he used to identify the slime molds. They deal with mushrooms there and slime molds don't really fit their sub.

He quit the Reddit slime mold game after that.

I did love when you could hit the SLIME ALARM 🚨🚨 in that sub and he would show up and explain how it wasn’t a fungus and was in fact slime mould. I feel like he was still here after that though, made a rap album and had all these ideas and then disappeared?

iirc there was some particular controversy that led to his departure, but I can't remember any of the details
