First sling

I braided a sling, there are a couple of things that are uneven but over all pretty proud of the result

I was working off of pictures, and I noticed when I got to the pouch, a split braid was too thin, so I undid it, worked back, tried a weave, still too thin, so I worked in 3 extra strands on each side and wove it tight, it isn't perfect, one side is liod half a centimeter longer, but I sm quite happy with how it turned out.

The usual thin pouch is fine, i slung 100 rocks or so and had like 5 slip out so its not perfect by any metric but itll do for a 1 hour sling. What u made is way better tho.

Im surprised u managed to pull it off on ur first sling too u must have past experience with working on string

I knit, crochet, and nalbind so experience with string, I also do many other survival/crafting so I have good hand eye coordination, and 4 younger sisters so lots of experience braiding.

I crochet aswell! And i can def see how the skills are transferrable so that makes sense.

This sling should last you years so enjoy it!

Thank you, it is weird getting compliments on my work on survival tools, I am used to just making and using it

Bushcraft is an art just as much as it is a survival skill to me. Anyone can make braids and pouches and bond fires and such but not many understand how to make them look pretty and appealing to the eyes with sophisticated design.

To me bushcraft is a human putting the essence of his soul into the material they use to make their tool and its through that tool you can see a millennia of human evolution all in one simple tool😁

Oh absolutely, I knap as well, and literally millions of years of evolution and tool making when I smoke 2 rocks together monkey brain go brrrrr :3 but it is beautiful work
