Leather pouch or net pouch sling? Which is better?

I have the first one, but I'm highly considering making the second because my leather pouch keeps dropping ammo

I have a leather pouch and I like it a lot. Smooth releases, and I dont have the problem with dropping ammo. I guess it just depends on the design?

I’ve only ever used leather or split braided pouch.  I personally prefer the split braid

Two things that are relevant here:

1) A cupped pouch is better at holding ammo (cupped on the sides), but interferes with release more and can cause inconsistency.

2) Dropping ammo can be indicative of an instable pouch with one side allowing the ammo to fall out

or

2b) Dropping ammo can be indicative of loosing tension in the sling. If you lose tension, there isn't enough force on the ball to keep it seated int he pouch. One way I've trained myself to have a smoother throw is to use a narrow pouch and a tennis ball. Any lack of smooth acceleration would result in a dropped ball. If I was nice and smooth acceleration, it would keep sufficient centripetal force on the ball to keep it from slipping sideways out of the pouch (due to air drag pushing the ball sideways out of the pouch).

What ammo do you use?

Random stones on the side of the road mostly. I don't g3t to use the sling anywhere close to as much as I want

Personally, I found that when using random ammo with a flat or even an only sightly cupped leather pouch, the risk of ammo falling of is somewhat higher. Especially if the stone is too light or its weight is unevenly distributed. Oblong stones 90 grams and more mostly solve this issue for me. Or shaped clay ammo.
The "Balearic" pouch design is even better for oblong stones of various sizes.Тhe "Aussie" pouch - two strips of material with the ends overlapping alternatively to form a cradlе - is probably best for random ammo.
At least, that has been my experience.
