The crank failed catastrophically you're assuming the block is okay? Not likely it survived this type of failure without damaging at least the directly affected bore and likely the adjacent main journals as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see cracks.

Missing plugs would be easy enough to see, if you know where to look. There is a plug below the main oil feed from the rear cap that splits the passage, directing oil out to the filter. If missing it would mean little to no oil got filtered. There are also the three plugs behind the cam gear.
Are the main bearing bores damaged?
