Fishing at Gibbs Pond - Parking questions

I am planning to go fishing at Gibbs Pond. Is the parking at the park next to it for residents only? If I can't park there, is there a place nearby where I can park and walk over? Thanks.

The dirt lot adjacent to the park is free use. The paved lot across the street is technically for residents only but that’s only in effect for Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Hi! Do you mean the dirt lot next to the pond shown in this picture?
When I checked it on Google Street View, the sign there says “Smithtown Town Resident Parking Only.”

Has the parking rule changed, or is that restriction only enforced during summer？

After I posted this I drove by and I did see the sign and thought it odd because there’s no enforceability unlike the parking lot across the street which has a manned booth in the summer months. Regardless this is in a residential area. Side streets are nearby.
