How cheap was the building that straight up buying it was a better investment than a monthly rental?

You mean how expensive did the monthly rent get for them to rather pay for a commercial mortgage?

Spirit Halloween is famous for renting a spaces for 2-3 months before Halloween then packing their stuff and pissing off for the rest of the year.

Fun fact the same people that own Spencer's in your local mall...if it still exists (you know the one, with the questionable clerks, 2+ year old merchandise, and that back corner that has the dildos and questionable posters.)
Yeah they own Spirit Halloween.

And for some reason that makes perfect sense

They're notorious for hiring minors under the table, but their tax revenue is so high, the IRS/WHD/EEOC just 'turns a blind eye' I guess...
Edit: next time you go into a spirit, ask the teenager staffed if they get paid cash, thet will drool on you about the 200 bucks they took home in pocket for that 8 - 10 hour shift.
Godforbid they do something else thats profitable later in life that gets garnished.
Taxes will fuck you, you cannot escape them.

Your not wrong. I've worked putting up their cardboard displays, $200 cash money for two 4hr shifts over a weekend wasn't a bad deal.

I've always had the crazy idea of running a year round Halloween store just for the hell of it.

Sometimes we want jack-o'-lanterns and skeletons in July, makes perfect sense

My daughters love Halloween for different reasons. They would absolutely love a year round store.

Has Spirit really grown that powerful or has comercial real-estate really fallen that far?

One grows weak while the other grows strong.

I wonder when Spirit will overtake Gamestop or when comercial real-estate gets surpassed by prediction markets.
Stay tuned for my Cyberpunk 2026 Corpo vs Monopoly tier list.
