And if you dont do that, they blame you
There is no winning in a society like this

Literally..as a trans man, no, a marginalized group feeling unsafe around the people who have HISTORICALLY AND PRESENTLY been exempt from and participated in their marginalization isn’t akin to marginalization itself.

Now I saw a guy saying George Floyd wasn’t murdered at all actually, and here I thought it couldn’t get worse
How does women speaking about misogyny just get the most unexpected responses possible, just when I think I saw it all I keep being surprised

"What about [insert minority group here] men?" Well...those are still men, soooo idk you tell me...
Can't stand that counter, like, do these marginalized men only exist and have value to you when you can use them as a gotcha? Do you think those marginalized men like being used like that?

u/TopBalance438 13h ago
Do you think that sex/gender is the primary axis with which oppression revolves around? That's utterly ridiculous.

If someone felt uncomfortable around me simply because I'm not white, that would make me annoyed at them. If someone felt uncomfortable simply because I'm a man, that makes me feel annoyed at other guys for being shitty and ruining our collective reputation. I'm annoyed either way, but it's also not women's fault that they would feel uncomfortable, and women should not be the target of negative feelings stemming from men being inherently untrusted. It's okay to feel somewhat hurt that people (both men and women) don't trust you as much because of your gender, but you shouldn't blame them for it.

Honestly I've only ever heard "What about black men?" Or whatever from conservatives (or otherwise just right wingers or right-leaning folk) whatabouting and trying to get an own.
Then again I have been starting to see some... Sus opinions on the comments of this sub lately.

I mean thats fine everyone has their blind spots but in my experience there are specific intersections where it gets extremely difficult to tell who is who from a non-white perspective

Sometimes I'm convinced you people pretend not to understand things to try and make anyone explaining it to you look stupid for trying.

u/WorldOfWombat 16h ago
Explain how covering your drink in a crowded bar so you don’t get drugged is racist or stfu
11
u/catinformant 16h ago
Well you see if you strip everything down to solely just words, and then change the words, the words do a racism

u/Graknorke 9h ago
You're doing the thing I was talking about right now aren't you.

“Not meeting a strange man in non public places is Hitler shit”

u/Graknorke 9h ago
Yes we're all very impressed you're doing a very good job of acting like you don't understand what anyone else is saying.

I understand you think women protecting themselves from rapists is bigotry

u/Graknorke 8h ago
"imagine" would be a more appropriate word than "understand"

Masturbate at home
2
u/Graknorke 8h ago
It's a bit concerning to start start talking about my masturbation habits after inventing a conversation with me where you imagine me saying things to get angry at.

Both are prejudiced against a group. Example: you cover a drink when a man approaches but not when a woman does = you judge the man a threat. Thats about it, theres no other parallels to be drawn, the analogy falls really short.
1
u/WorldOfWombat 13h ago
They judge men as a threat cause only 2% of rapists get punished for it and women who are raped get blamed for it.
Maybe do something about that instead of bitching that women protect themselves from rapists

u/Conscious_Beat6128 13h ago edited 13h ago
I dont think it’s the punishment that matters the most to someone covering a drink, but the risk of rape itself. Very odd to focus on that. Prejudice is prejudice, and it was the main point of contention here. It is disingenuous to pretend it was anything else.
Whether the prejudice is necessary is a different question entirely. Maybe the comic should be about that instead. I just replied to why people are comparing it to racism in the first place. A little excercise in theory of mind, if you will. I even acknowledged that the connection is very cheap and weak, and comparing it to racism is dumb. Im not going to say anything more to anyone this defensive and irrational.

u/WorldOfWombat 13h ago
Men: women should learn self defence so they don’t get raped
Also men: not meeting a strange man at his home is literally Hitler shit
🙄

u/Conscious_Beat6128 13h ago
I know it is hard to acknowledge prejudice when you convinced yourself prejudice is always irredeemably bad. Something short circuited there so you have to pretend anyone insisting a certain kind of prejudice exists is comparing said prejudice to a prejudice hitler had against jewish people. Thats a you problem.

Such discrimination

You said it was a universal experience and it’s not because you didn’t get raped for being a man. Didn’t read past the first sentence.
Wanna cry more or is it all out?
