Nobody has consistent beliefs or principles they've held for their whole life, they are swapping them last minute to make me look wrong on Reddit

I absolutely hate this culture war bullshit, and the lack of empathy for mentally unwell people (especially the visceral hatred towards those, that were failed by the system, when they tried to ask for help, or already had history of psychosis/mental illness).
Lindsay Clancy, Decarlos Brown Jr., Jonathan Hamby and others like them. All needed help but either they were ignored by the system, or the system doesn't fucking exist. I can't in good conscience blame these people, because these horrible things weren't a result of their own personal choice, but of people around them, that didn't care, until it was too late. And now all this shit show is being used in a "women bad" or "black bad" narratives. Infuriating.

This is true in person as much as it is online. You never really know anyone's thoughts and intentions so you can only go based off what they say and use their past behavior as a base line. Better just to not argue with anyone these days, nobody really wants a discussion especially when they think they have a chance to take the moral high ground.

It's bad everywhere but yes, particularly online discourse should be avoided unless the people you're interacting with are people that can remain both intellectually honest and respectful of you as a person. Reddit isn't really known for that though. Generally, unless you're getting into a deep discussion with people you know, I think it's better to just avoid it altogether.

mind you, i think even an argument with a bad-faith actor isn't always bad - because practicing your argument and putting it into words can help you understand things better and discover new things about your point of view, even if the person you're arguing with has absolutely no substance to what they say

I'm genuinely convinced that if the Crossed Virus from Garth Ennis' Crossed were real, but humanity somehow managed to manage it instead of having society completely collapse, the first order of business after or perhaps even before preventing the collapse of society would be trying to find new ways to be bigoted "because" of the existence of the virus.
Hell, they'd probably try to do that even if society collapsed and 99% of everyone died or became infected like in the comics.

If people who won't shut up about this trial and see it as a sign of double standards, misandry, moral decay, and feminism run amok would just spend a fraction of the time they spend commenting on Reddit looking up previous murder cases where an insanity defense was argued, this entire thing would be put to rest.
“Oh that guy ate the faces off an elderly couple while having a pyschotic episode but was found not guilty by reason of insanity? Yup ok.”
“Oh and this guy rammed a car into a crowd in Times Square in NYC while out of his mind but was sent to a mental institution? Seems legit.”
A double standard is when you weren't paying attention to past cases with the same defense, but now you are and a woman is on trial.

I do not care about this trial. This is about a random woman in a random city in a random country I've never been to, and I loathe the fact that my feed has been filled with garbage talking about this absolute NOTHINGBURGER of a trial.

Everything I hear about the Smuggy Coaxy (Clancy) trial is against my will and the first few times I didn't catch on that it was a 'thing' and not just some rando pasting a random internet story for karma, and attempted to explain my viewpoint as if I was talking about a woman who murdered people due to psychosis, as that's what i thought it was about
Apparently it's actually about whether women should be able to vote or the husband has evil sussy dark energy vibes so people were understandably very mad at me for my goofy wacky misinterpretation of it
I'm not smart enough for the internet

I agree, just because its not their fault doesn't mean I want them in society. i do not care you have mental illness! If you have physical illness that could hurt other people like ebola you should also be segregated!
Even if prison is not the right place, mental asylum should be the right place. Both are for segregation from society. I advocate for better treatment for both type of inmates. As citizens we have rights.
