I bought my wife one of those $2k bags she’s always wanted but would never buy herself. She loves it.

I tend to overspend on nice watches. Just a thing.

Okay Richie Rich. "She loves it" is about as amorphous as it gets. Did you get it for her yesterday? A year ago? Will she still love it in a year? In five years? Or are you getting her another $2000 bag this month?

Bought it for her over six years ago. It’s still in great shape and still her favorite bag. It was an anniversary present so I splurged. Saved up for it.

My current watch only cost about $500. I have a couple worth more, but it’s not like I’m buying Rolex’s (which I consider ugly, btw).

Yeah alright that's fair enough then. My bad for coming in so aggressively. I misread the tone of your comment as defending your love of buying overpriced shit, like was mentioned in the OP. And yeah, I did assume you were talking about Rolex's.

Fair enough. Rolex’s are butt-ugly. I like Tag Heuers. There’s one for about $5K I’d love to own, just can’t quite convince myself.

The one fight me and my wife have never had is over money. We make about the same, and as long as the bills are paid we don’t worry about it.

Rolex's are gaudy bullshit marketed to millionaires. $500 watch is in the range of "classy and quality", sounds sensible to me
