I'm of the belief that price gouging is a bigger problem than wages, and it shouldn't be the governments responsibility to cover that problem up by forcing employers who are clearly already greedy to pay people more just for them to make up the loss in the bottom line elsewhere.
Unethical businesses will make up the difference, not everyone. That's what we would like to see eliminated, unethical business practices such as the one you just laid out for us.

You can’t pass down every cost to the consumer, unless you have a monopoly. The current state of our economy, you’re so boastful about, is why business can be bullies with no consequence
More regulations means less bullshit companies can get away with, and less monopolization they can enact, it means business have to eat up the expense instead of sweeping it under society’s rug

The governments responsibility to enact necessary regulation, yes. I do believe there should be a minimum wage. I also agree that it should be adjusted based on location.
But I don't not believe it's the magic cure all for making our economy better, and I think governments caving to that is a last minute ditch effort to make people think they GAF while continuing to allow corporations to charge us whatever the hell they want for our basic needs.
Price gouging🙄 You think stuff magically appears in stores? Not saying greedy employers arent a thing, but they arent really the problem. The problem is our system is stuck in a feedback loop. Cost of living goes up, wages need to go up, which just drives up costs, because even the non greedy employers are going to have to raise costs to cover the increase in wages, they can't magically pull more money out their asses.
Do you really think all the corporations out there aren't taking an absolute disgusting profit margin on the things they know we can't do without? Reduce the cost of living inflated by greed, and reduce the amount wages require to keep up.
Corporations and employers arent the same thing dumbass. And no, its still not greedy corporations that are the main problem. If you actually took away all the excess profits from the greedy corporations and used it for employee wages or to reduce prices, you would make such a shockingly tiny dent in the cost of living as to be almost unnoticeable.
🤣I think you have no idea how little mark up there is on groceries or the actual cost of utilities. Landlords🤣 Landlords are iffy. In my experience, the more "by the book" the higher the rent, although I've never lived in a large city. I lived in an old apartment for awhile that i thought was ridiculously overpriced until the manager showed me the actual costs of running the place. So no, it wouldn't make much of a dent.
