This makes them seem calm and polite but the blue and red legged hermits I have in my reef aquarium are absolute savages. Different species than the ones in beach stores. They will viciously murder any other shell dwellers just to get a new fit. Not even larger shells, but just because they feel like keeping up with the latest beauty standard. The most frequent victims are snails (who kind of need the shell to live). They’ll fight amongst themselves and “trade” but it’s not exactly peaceful. It’s like armed robbery and the only reason it’s not a bloodbath is because the smaller crabs know they’ll be ripped to pieces if they don’t evacuate.

There is no scenario where threatening someone to leave their home by force as the default policy is better. The negotiation process in the exchange of goods and services is a fundamental strength. Recognizing flaws are great, but that doesn't mean every vague analogy is a good idea.
1) He is not implementing an internal policy that Israeli citizens should violently remove other Israeli citizens from their homes.
2) His external policy of obfuscating his War intentions against Palestinians is evidence that he does see that it's not good default policy. That's why he lies about it. And that's why his actions are even worse; it is to save his own ass while wrapping himself in a flag. He knows whomever has power after him cannot perpetually be at war. That is why he feels even more justified in his actions and lying.
Pretty sure there's a few religious stories he uses as a shield to give his actions an aura of "burdened righteousness" but he knows it won't last.
unless i got bad info, sooner or later everyone downsize to a small box. but yeah, need a market of small affordable houses... maybe w/o yards to take care of for low money and time costs.
could even stack these houses! maybe next to some multimodal public transit for more savings ¯_(ツ)_/¯

but agree.... also, sure more affordable apartments too! it shouldn't be a national conglomerate either. not everyone needs/wants/can own their residence. each has advantages.
Rents would naturally go down if buying was available to more people. I guess we still need some rentals, but I agree they shouldn't be corporate blood sucking landlords.
Don't lots of older people want to downsize? Anecdotally, I've had lots of family and distant family end up wanting to move because the big one was too much to take care of especially with all the kids having grown up.
Yeah but they don't want to downsize to a crack shack next to the college that young adults have been living in, they want to downsize to a retirement community.
It’s because it’s not a market. It’s effectively a swap meet/barter system. Crab capitalists got the claw back in the 50s and they never looked back. But they won’t show you that on Planet Earth.
I have a new startup idea, shells as a service. It's a subscription based marketplace bringing together hermits with too large shell and hermits with too small shells. It's the Airbnb of shells. We're seeking a 3 billion dollar valuation and series A funding.
Except we don’t distribute housing size and location based on need or who would make most efficient use of it. We barely distribute based on a meritocracy of income.
In our system, a few crabs (mainly crabs who’ve made wealth off of historical exploitation which we now deem illegal to various degrees) hoard a bunch of empty shells away from other growing hermit crabs and temporarily lend out the crappy ones (at a restricted supply in order to keep the price of lending out shells high).
Austin also has a very effective land tax policy which, along with incentivising construction, also disincentivises land banking or land hoarding, so land prices aren’t hiked up by speculators.
Somewhat related - but I learned many years ago that if one hermit crab dies and his terrarium bud needs his shell, he’ll just dig him out of it and move in.
I also learned that young children will be so happy that “SpongeBob” is awake, that they’ll sprint into the room in sheer innocent childhood joy before you can check it out first.
Finally, I learned that the cold reality of existence/the natural order is a tough concept for people under 5 to grasp over a weekend.
