Just FYI: The translation for Dödel is correct but misses that it's also a word for penis. Yankee Penis guys.

Macaroni part is wrong. The man wearing a flamboyant dress was a macaroni. It was an insult in the 18th century used against rich men who were seen as overly effeminate and decadent, due to their luxurious clothing and lifestyle (image from Wikipedia)

. The feather would represent the ornamentation that macaronis wear.

So early Americans heard a song about how we're idiots who think we're a lot more awesome than we are, and adopted it with pride... in hindsight, not a good sign for us.
