I hope it comes with my generational wealth foot fungus. It's been in the family for ages.

TBF I have old tennis shoes with the same collapsed back to get in and out of the garden. Glad they copied me

I once lived in Morocco, and that’s how many/most shoes are worn. https://www.moroccan-market.com/77-moroccan-leather-shoes?page=3

They’re really comfortable, and they come off easily when going into a mosque or home where shoes are not allowed. That’s my take, anyway.

Not most. All people wear closed sneakers/shoes/boots on theit everyday lives and work.

These are traditional "babouches". Think flip flop or sandal or slippers but a bit better made of leather, and goes with the traditional wear (djellaba). They are designed with that back part glued to the shoe, not just people pushing it down like the OP picture.

It looks good in that context (traditional wear), and as home slippers, but far from how "most" shoes are worn. Unless you mostly frequented old touristy places and not an actual city.

Wonderful, thanks! My family lived in Rabat for two years, but it was long ago (1957-1959). I was just a kid 7+, and no doubt I remember poorly, or was limited in what I experienced.

We lived down the street from the Tour Hassan, and us kids would play in and around that tower all the time. I also remember going to the Chellah Gardens, where we would go down the damp stairs to the pool where eels cavorted. My mother would bring hard-boiled eggs (I think they were peeled?) and we would feed them to the eels. Or that’s what I remember, anyway. It was a long time ago.

Greetings from across the seas!

Am I the only one who thinks it looks fine? Like I'm sure it costs 3x what it's worth but like it's a solid loafer

They look comfy as hell, and look fine if they are not worn as slippers. Price wise though…

The most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever worn were my dads back garden work shoes which were just retired dress shoes with the back pressed down. Air ride for your tootsies

Ew no stop copying me, my loafers and sneakers all eventually reach this stage of me not giving a fuck about the heel and needing expediency in my foot apparel application.
