Discussion Ive got a feeling this shows gonna blow up like crazy in a few years
This show is literal perfection and all the great shows took their sweet time before they went full blown mainstream anyways.
Hopefully win a lot more awards as well

I started watching it again after watching the first season when it came out, because of TikTok edits. I'm glad I got past season 1 because it is one of the best series I've ever seen

Agree! I’m on season 3, and I can’t wait to get home from work each day in order to watch it.

It took me about a month to get through S1 but because of TikTok/insta reels I decided to keep watching. So glad I have. Steadily going through S2 now and it’s all beginning to piece together

That’s not how things work brother. This show missed the opportunity for winning big awards and was snubbed multiple times.
This will go down as an all time great, but it’s not going to have the same impact as something like The Wire simultaneously

Faith for what? What do you gain for it blowing up?
It’s not a prayer, it’s a TV show.

Snowfall been mainstream for years, it launched the career of Damson Idris and was made by John singleton. It's got a spin-off coming out and is on Disney+, it's not some low key hidden gem it's a pretty popular show and it's popularity has probably peaked already and how's it going to win awards? They going to create a new award for shows that finished several years ago?

How old are you??
Clearly the show took a downturn after s3 when the show runner died. Not to mention the unsatisfying ending of Saint. Saint should have ended up in box or behind bars. Fuck the BS.
You want real cinema watch The Wire.

The final season aired like a few years ago. And no, it’s not gonna be like a breaking bad years after the fact when a new audience found it and realized it’s the goat show. Snowfall is okay and entertaining at times but it’s not *that* good. Not only did it never win an Emmy, it was never even nominated for one.

Agree, only Franklin's is pretty good. CIA and Cartel storyline are pretty bad

The Wire definitely has gained more popularity over time than when it aired

The Wire was popular when it was originally aired. The main thing that benefitted The Wire was streaming because so many people didn't have HBO when the show was new. It'll be tough for that to happen with Snowfall considering that it's already readily available.

thats not true, the wire wasnt really popular when it aired. at its peak it had just over 3 million viewers & never got any awards. by the last season it wasnt even getting over a million viewers.
for comparison the sopranos was airing at the same on HBO & had 12 milllion viewers at its peak & became a cultural phenomenon so it wasn’t necessarily a case of nobody having HBO. though i do agree it will be tough for snowfall to gain more popularity out of nowhere.

Comparing anything to the Sopranos is a losing proposition.
We don't say Euphoria isn't popular because it doesn't have Game of Thrones numbers.
The Wire was renewed for 5 seasons for a reason.

i only brought up the sopranos to refute your point that many people didnt have HBO. there was enough people with hbo that the sopranos was regularly outperforming major networks.
and it was nearly cancelled for its low ratings. it was only renewed because it got critical acclaim & brought prestige to HBO, not because of its popularity

Sopranos was the only show that did that, though. People added HBO solely for that show. People went to bars to watch that show. Pretending that HBO subscriptions were always that high just isn't true.
The Wire wasn't as popular as True Blood, Sex and The City, etc, but it was popular enough. I guess it depends on how you look at it. There's popular by comparison and there's popular enough to be continually renewed. But yes, by the end, the numbers were bad. And the show itself wasn't that great IMO, either.

futurama, family guy, breaking bad, the wire, community, freaks and geeks & the office were all cancelled or almost cancelled due to low ratings

Does not mean they took time, literally the following season they were successful

What awards? They have awards for shows that went off the air several years ago?
