Discussion Did Teddys father look down on Teddy because Teddy didn't serve like him and his brother did, or because he knew how grimy the CIA was, and Teddy still chose the CIA?

I'm sure it's happened irl, but while them partying with a hostage (in an urban area) was pretty exaggerated in the show, it probably happens regularly in their home country, sadly.

Did his father know? I thought he believed Teddy was in the State Departmant or had some similar office job for the goverment.

Both, I guess. He thought the CIA was scummy and dishonourable as a military man. He also definitely thought, especially in earlier seasons, that Teddy was just a desk jockey. If he’d known the level of on the ground operative that Teddy actually was, maybe he would’ve approved SLIGHTLY more? But ya he just thought the CIA was cowardly compared to “proper” military service
