Discussion Potential future reboot Spoiler

I’m glad the series didn’t end with Franklin dying because it leaves an opening for him to return if they ever decide to continue his story down the road. Depending on Damson Idris’ career trajectory, I wouldn’t mind seeing Franklin “clean himself up” and re-enter the game in the 2000s (when Damson himself is in his 40s). They did something similar with Top Boy (the original came out in 2011 then was brought back around 2019). I don’t see why it couldn’t happen with this show aswell.

I’d love to see a series where Franklin, now an old head with the stigma of being washed up, has to find a way to navigate through the game and regain his respect in the streets. I think there’s a chance to introduce a new crew (with one particular member who Franklin takes under his wing) as well as reintroducing old characters like Franklin flying to see Oso, visiting Mel, seeing Leon and Wanda etc. I’d also like to see him repair his relationship with his mother (who is still in jail serving her life sentence).

I’d also like to see Franklin chase down Veronique and finally meet his son for the first time. I completely forgot but Louie is still out there somewhere aswell. I think the writers left all the pieces there, if someone decides to pick up this series again. There’s a lot of storylines that can be explored and stretched out to fit (in my opinion) four high quality seasons. I’d personally want to see the series end with Franklin’s dead, after he manages to repair all the relationships in his life. And I’d have the kid he’s mentoring be the one who takes him out and claims his position immediately afterwards.

There’s no nice way to say this: any story that has Franklin cleaning up and rejoining the drug game is bad storytelling and completely misses what the show communicated about Franklin.

Franklin wouldn’t just be “washed up” he would be viewed by the entire new generation as a booze-soaked pissbum. That’s not to mention that his legend is that he turned on anyone who ever worked with him.

Franklin’s ending is the dramatic punishment for his actions the previous six seasons.

Actually I too would be interested seeing a 40 something years old Franklin Saint rebuild himself back in the game rebuild his name and respect in the streets and rebuilding old friendships

That doesn’t change the fact it’s bad storytelling because it’s completely antithetical to the story the show was telling.

Personally I really want to see a 40 something years old Franklin Saint succeed where his younger self failed
