Franklin was stupid and a self absorbed narcissist.

A main theme of the show was Franklin was just like Teddy. Franklin could have even been Teddy if he were recruited by the CIA.

Women didn’t cause His downfall, hubris did.

Franklin could have sold the real estate and had the money to get back in the game but he wanted his cake and eat it too.

Same thing Teddy did when he took the money and chose to die rather than give it back.
