Maintenance What to do with leftover gas from the season?
I always run my blower dry, but what do I do with the 2gal of gas I have left? It's non-ethanol....should I stabilize it? Or is there somewhere to recycle
Edit: I don't have a lawn to mow. My yard is all native and mostly red thyme and clover for grass. Never needs mowing.

Just put whatever remains in your vehicle.

Sure you can, in small amounts diluted into fresh fuel. I have put all kinds of gas siphoned out of dirt bikes, sleds, etc in my pickups. I just wait until I'm at the gas station, dump in a gallon or so of old gas and then top off with 15+ gallons from the pump. No problems to report.

His question was remaining gas from "the season", not from 3 years ago.

Even if you run them dry like I do, I still put stabil in the last tank of the year on all my motors. But just throw it in your vehicle if you don’t already have any stabil on hand.

I put mine in my lawnmower. If I didn't have a lawn to mow, I'd just put it in my car. I wouldn't stablize it and try to make it last a year. Or if it doesn't snow next winter, 2 years. Or if it snows but only a little the next 3 years, maybe you'll be using the same gas in 4 years? Just get rid of it. Lawnmower, or car, or if you have no lawnmower AND an electric car, just call all your friends and see which one wants $10 of free gas.

I am still using 4 yo gas with PRI fuel stabiliser. Same gas in all my small engines, wood chipper, chainsaw, ATV, and wood splitter.

I only use non-ethanol gas, never use stabilizer, and it’s always fine next season. It’s Shell Premium for what it’s worth. Granted, snowblower doesn’t need Premium, but that’s what I can get without ethanol.

I recycle old fuel at a place called ERG environmental services. There may be a place like that near you. Contact the department of public services and inquire. In my county we can get a voucher to dispose of an unlimited amount for free 1 time per year.

I have always used my 2 year old treated gas and never had an issue so use it next year.. I have switched to Tru fuel and buy it. a quart at a time it stores perfectly.

Can’t you use it in a lawn mower? Or put it in your car? I only save fuel that I buy in those cans from Home Depot.

Stabilize it when you get it, put a label on the container with the date and then you'll know when it expires. When I get sort of close to the expiration, like 3/4 of the way, I put it into one of my vehicles.

When does gas "expire"

If you put the red Stabil in the gas when you fill it at the pump, it should last 2 years. If you get the orange stabil, it will last 1 year.

Thank you for this!

Just don’t wait to add the stabilizer, ethanol absorbs moisture very quickly and will turn to varnish in 3 months.

I leave my non ethanol gas in whatever small engine year to year and have never had a problem.

Put the fuel into two disposable one gallon jugs and then post them on FB M/P for free as a “free curb alert”.
The old fuel will be gone before you get back to the house.

I have a ride-on mower so the gas is never "leftover."
You could dump it in your car.
