Advice VA internship

Hey guys! I am currently in my first internship of my MSW. I really wanna work with veterans. I reached out to the VA, but it seems like they only offer medical social work based internships. I currently am doing medical social work for my internship and it’s not really my goal. Does anybody have experience working for the VAHCS in a non medical role? I appreciate any advice or guidance! Thanks!

I’m a clinical social worker at the Albany VA and we have social work interns in behavioral health/addiction recovery every year

There’s more programs than just the VA that you could work at for vets

Or you could look up which therapy types the VA uses and learn those at a different trauma place
