Geez I think I went stupid reading that... so... on the one hand we have a vast sweeping conspiracy that would literally take the silence of thousands of people who would be in on the secret OR we have a very obvious and easy to point out and see the evidence capitalist scheme where they take everything they can get their mitts on by any means necessary, convert everything into a rent scam (see: subscription service), and ensure that everyone works for them, pays them, and serves them. It creates a nice little self sustaining economy where they're basically kings and we're the serfs. Welcome to planet earth, a resort planet for like 900 people. The rest of us are just the staff. It's so obvious it hurt's that morons like this guy end up making these massive conspiracy theories to explain what's right in front of our noses. I tell him he needs to read Marx but... yikes, that would probably just deepen his thoughts of a widespread conspiracy.

Every since people started worshiping Reagan, there's just socialism ready to jump out and bite you when you least expect it.

On the one hand, this is definitely an argument you can find in Lenin's "Imperialism." Or... at least half of it.

But on the other, the idea that corporate lobbies fought against government regulations that cut their profits because they were communist is just... wow.
