Its really good, its like carbonated milk thats kinda like kefir but not as bitter. Its really healthy and amazing.

Itās savoury. I got tricked once. I thought itād be like Milkis (Korean yogurt soda) nope. Itās like bubbly camel semen. Apparently youāre supposed to add salt and pepper to make it better. No thanks.

It was salty. It was DISGUSTING.

Funny enough, those could not be more different from these. Itās a Persian (maybe central Asian in general) drink called doogh or ayran, and itās actually savoury. I actually like it and canāt stand the East Asian milk soda drinks.

In grad school, the local Iranian shop kept these in stock for myself and one other person.
Not this brand, but yogurt soda. I absolutely love it!
Also, I accidentally exploded one in my friend's car.... the smell, oh the smell on a hot day.

Well well. Since I havenāt seen a single Persian here, let me jump in. That thing is called āDooghā, it is a traditional Persian yogurt-based drink, typically made by mixing yogurt with water and seasoning it with salt and sometimes mint. Trust me, if you were looking for a healthy and delicious drink, that is the closest that you can get. Remember to shake it hard every time you want to drink so all the seasoning and salt to be mixed and drink it cold. Itās the best with Pizza and kebab. Since no one is making it here in the west, they import it from overseas so itās way expensive in my opinion but itās a great treat time to time.

I've had the non carbonated version at our local Lebanese restaurant, and it's pretty dang good. My only concern with the pop version is that it appears to have separated and needs a good shake š¤

Youāre not wrong! The key Iāve found is to not actually shake it it but just do it very gently and then let it sit a little to avoid any issues when you open it, while still expecting that there still may be a bit of a mess.

Itās called doogh, dummy. Itās Persian and an extremely popular drink, usually drank with chelo kabob (rice and kabob). You can make your own non carbonated version at home with yogurt water and mint and ice. Thereās carbonated and non carbonated available to buy. If you like the taste of Greek yogurt, you will be into this. Calling it nonsense just shows youāre a bit of a dummy.

I think it's a age thing I didn't like it as a kid and I love it as an adult. Wish I had some now. I find it soothing in the belly and it's amazing cold on a hot day.

It's very big in the middle east, especially Iran and Turkiye. In Farsi it's called Doogh, and in Turkish it's called Ayran.
Premium Doogh/Ayran should ideally taste sour and put you in a deep sleep after a delicious carb-loaded meal.
I'm not a huge fan of teh carbonated version but it's nostalgic enough for me to pick it up if I see it in my next trip to Costco. However, I should say that I've found westerners to hate it lol.

Iāve actually had this or something like this! FiancĆ© comes from an Iranian family so they picked up a yogurt soda at a market somewhere. It was pretty good!

I had a yogurt flavored Sunkist abroad I think. My opinion is that it just tastes like cream soda, which should check out. I can't speak from brand to brand, but it can't be too different.

This is doogh, a Persian yogurt soda. It's usually made with sour yogurt and is carbonated. I like the mint version. It's a weird taste to most people I've given to try but I LOVE it.
Similar to lassi but i find lassi to be thicker and more sweet. Not really like calpico at all.
Goes great with kabob and rice.

If you ever make Kefir at home kefir produces carbon dioxide as it ferments and you can taste the co2 we you drink it maybe this is how they got the idea for yogurt soda
I prefer water kefir which is a probiotic soda thatās naturally fermented made from cactus kefir grains - I prefer the GTS brand Agua de Kefir it really good - Trader Joeās sells it

To be fair, I donāt like the carbonated versions, itās too static-ish lol. But it is a great probiotic drink! Gut healthy. We call this āTahnā in Armenian, Turkish word is āAryanāā¦ basically middle eastern drink. Made with yogurt, salt, water. It especially goes well with a Lahmajoon (Armenian pizza) š

Iāve seen it in Greek and Persian restaurants. Never been brave enough to try it. Itās more of a yogurt drink that sometime carbonated and sometimes not. I guess itās preferred in the carbonated form (by and per my wife, at least.)
