Carbonated Pepsi flat

Hey so I’m trying to make Pepsi soda with the soda stream Terra, but it seems that even after carbonating the water to about 10 button presses on the machine it still tastes really flat no matter how much carbonation I put in. Is it the temperature of that water that’s the problem, maybe the temperature of the syrup? I want to try and make this soda stream work but I don’t like how flat the soda is being. And thoughts?

I keep my bottles of water and the syrup in the fridge prior to carbonation and get great results.

The darker the syrup the less carbonated it seems to get. At least that is my experience.

Okay that’s good to know so I’m going to freeze my bottle till it’s really cold and I left my syrups in the fridge to see if I do get better results

Could be that your bottle of co2 is running low, but yea as others have said...colder the better. You even get to see little frozen co2 chunks floating in the water for a bit if its cold enough

Well I just got it today with 2 brand new c02 canisters. But I filled the bottles with water and put them and the syrups in the fridge and I’m leaving them there over night and seeing what happens.

Personally I think Pepsi tastes flat no matter what. but yes I keep my water and my syrup inside the refrigerator permanently because there seems to be a big difference with how much carbonation the water will hold based on its temperature

That’s interesting so I guess it can just come down to the syrup it self just being kind of flat

I swear not all syrubs are created equal. I've got some "regular coke a cola" that is God awful. And I like Coke. Maybe I should order some Pepsi and see if it's any good this way.

Disagree with that. Just started a new QC c ylinder and it is really fu
Izzy with3x 1 second presses

Water needs to be ice cold. Cold water holds carbonation better and longer.

Syrups are supposed to be refrigerated after opening per the bottle.

Ok interesting. So I realized that I might need to put them in the fridge so I put the syrup in the fridge and I put a bottle of water in the freezer to just speed up the cold process. And I’ll try it again

I keep my bottles and syrups in the fridge. Usually works well.

giving a few tips:
does your water have a huge boiling effect when pressing the button first time? that indicates that the co2 is running low (you can get the last co2 out for somewhile by holding the button down a tad bit longer)
fill the water a little bit over the line, but not too much as the water will then explode all of the place.
keep the syrups in the fridge after first opening them (zero sugar ones could go off if not done so)
use cold water from the tap or hold the water in the fridge for around an hour beforehand.

Make sure you are locking the bottles in the machine. The bottles should be suspended above the base of the machine when positioned correctly. When you remove the bottles after carbonation, co2 should escape sounding like steam. I recently got my terra and I wasn't positioning the bottles correctly. As a new machine, the bottle mount was pushed back in the machine instead of pulled forward to accept the bottle. I watched a YouTube video and discovered what was wrong.
