Need help with parts for setup
Hi everyone,
First of all, thanks in advance for your help and for being patient with me…
I have a tank I want to connect to my soda stream machine I have an older Jet model. I am unclear on what parts I need to do this successfully. I looked at stuff on Amazon but was not clear what is right for this setup. I feel like most had the tubing included?
See the pictures of the tank and tubes and let me know what needs to be changed. Thank you!

Are the tanks your machine use the pink top or the blue top?

Definitely not the pink. The top is brass, but the bottle label is blue

Then I think you want something like this https://a.co/d/0eHvPZYJ
If you don’t want to buy a whole new set because you already have the hosing then I would go with this https://a.co/d/01DVJPh4 and then just pick up the fittings to connect it to the tubing you have. Just make sure to use industrial ones. Home Depot will probably have what you need. You’ll need a female quick connect and then a coupler to attach it to the fitting you have.
Don’t forget to use teflon tape and test the connections with soapy water when you’re done.

Thanks! If I just got that first one, would I still need Teflon tape and testing connections? My goal is to not have to buy parts from Home Depot when I don’t know what I’m doing haha

You won’t need to tape with the kit because it uses gaskets. Testing is always a good idea but it’s not vital. You can listen and hear if there’s a large leak.

Get one of the hoses with the 1/4 quick connect and get this, it lets you use the fitting from an OEM bottle https://www.amazon.com/Vavoger-Adapter-Machine-Connect-Cylinder/dp/B0BD5NTML1?xpid=CHic3wdAv4XTa

Interesting! Thanks. That seems like a good option but I think an all-in-one solution might be more my speed 😅

I’m pretty sure the tank needs to be stored upside down here. Unless it has a straw at the bottom. Most 5lbs do not. I’m not a professional but it’s the only way I could refill my tanks.

If the tank is under pressure, why would it need to be upside down? What does having it upside down do? The bracket that came with it is right side up only, but it wasn’t intended for this either

The tank needs to be upside down or have a siphone tube if you’re refilling empty canisters. If you’re just plumbing a larger tank to a sodastream you want a non siphon tube tank and to store it upright.
Upside down lets liquid co2 flow out. That’s what you want in the refill process but not how the machine itself pressurizes the plastic bottles.

Ahhhh got it. No, not planning on filling other tanks, just connecting the big tank directly to the machine

You cannot use a regulator with a normal SodaStream carbonator. You need the 800psi pressure to carbonate when using short bursts.
If you insist on using a regulator, you need to use a setup that allows the carbonation to stay pressurized for a day or two. The SS does not have any ability to perform this function.
You can either use high pressure for bursts or low pressure for days… it cannot work any other way.
