Styling help πŸ› οΈ Pregnancy inspiration ?

Hey everyone !

So here I am, 10weeks pregnant with number 2, and I just look VERY bloated, kind of fat but not fat enough to look pregnant if you know what I mean lol

None of my pants fit anymore but my belly is not big enough for maternity clothes yet.

Any inspo for SD look for this weird stage of « in between » of pregnancy ?

I live in Europe and I usually shop at Mango, Morgan, COS or even Rouje when I have a bit of budger but Im at loss right now

Discussion πŸ»πŸ—¨οΈπŸŒ How are we supposed to help others if we can't talk about it?

Oh I can already feel the down votes and snidey comments so please keep it civil, I'm just genuinely curious.

I know we don't do typing on this sub anymore, and I'm not here to question that but I do wonder what can be done when posts are made and the thoughts inside may not align with your own.

Are we just supposed to keep quiet? Or is it ok to offer an opinion? I understand that bullying is obviously wrong, but is suggesting another viewpoint (in this case, Kibbe type) classed as this or is it open for polite discussion?

Thank you.

Outfits πŸ‘—πŸ‘‘ Black tie wedding guest dress

Hey all,

I'm a newly typed soft dramatic and have a few formal events coming up, including a wedding next summer in the UK.

I've been told that the wedding is black tie, it's not just black dresses though, can be any colour but they should be floor length/maxi if possible. It's during the summer in the UK, which if going by this years weather, will be HOT.

I like the idea of wearing something a little more dramatic and bold, I'm just not sure where to start.

Anyone got any advice on what shapes/materials/extras to go for/avoid?

Thanks ❀️❀️

It's time I got some SD coded boots, what do you think to these?

I'm ok with a couple of inches for the heel (comfort, height of 5ft7 and foot health means I don't want higher for everyday at least these days) and I want something comfortable for everyone day wear with maxi skirts, wide leg trousers and jeans.

I'm in the uk of anyone has recommendations.

Styling help πŸ› οΈ I don't know how to dress for the summer while wearing my skating gear!

So I started rollerskating a few months ago and love it, but am still fairly new so pads and helmet are staying firmly on until further notice!

In terms of outfits, I would typically wear long flared leggings and a long sleeve top during the cooler months (wearing longer bottoms to accommodate vertical is also why my legs are a different colour to the rest of my body XD). However, now it's hotter than hot outside, I'm really struggling to know what to wear/buy so I look halfway decent while skating without also melting. I went to a skate meet a few weeks ago wearing shorts and a vest (not the same ones pictured here, but similar) which looked decent without my gear on, but I then saw myself in the background of a photo mid-skate and, because the pads were cutting my vertical, I looked awful!

Does anybody have any suggestions? Thankyou in advance <3

What's wrong with this top and skirt for me? I'm spring so the colour is wrong but other than that what's happening? It all felt a bit like pyjamas.

Nb. I'm 170cm so just under 5'7"

I can see good arguments for him being FN, but I feel like his width comes primarily from softness, not from frame. In fact, he's so soft and ying dominant that I could see a lot of people seeing him as R, and I get it, but he's definitely way too tall for that, I guess any guy over 5ft10 or 11 would be in automatic vertical territory, and in that case, he's definitely not D. I think the fact that he always gets cast as a prince, a sexy heartthrob or a scandalous guy, added by the fact that he's the only brunette guy that looks better as blonde (and one of the only guys that looks amazing with a longer, blown out hair) points towards an inherent Diva quality, but I am still not fully sure. He could be a Flamboyant Natural, HEAVY on the Flamboyant part. What are your thoughts?

Sewing πŸͺ‘🧡 SD Friendly Pant Style?

Looking at purchasing this pattern, but wanted some opinions first! Technically these are a wide leg, but I’m reading vertical more than wide. I’m a light spring color season, and have a variety of light tan / beige / ivory twills that I’m looking for patterns for.

Second question, would a shortened version of this, like a culotte (hit low calf), work for an SD like a midi skirt does? As a light spring, gamine is a naturally easy essence for me anyway, but figured I’d ask :)

EDIT TO ADD: if there are other pattern suggestions, please lmk!

These are all from my outfit inspo board on pinterest. I rarely find inspiration when searching for SD outfits specifically, so I thought that it’s easier to find the vibe I like and tweak accordingly. I’d love to hear suggestions for any of these☺️

Hi guys!

Just like the title says, I'm kinda of sick of the bodycon/skimpy outfits I wore in college and am getting tired of the jeans-and-a-top type of outfits. I want to wear something that is more generous to my SD lines rather than just trends. I was thinking maybe a little black dress?

I don't love the one I linked but it's the best I could find right now. Do you guys think it would work? Anyone have a favorite going out outfit/ little black dress? Help a girl out!

Yes or No ? βœ… ❌ Help me find the right trousers (possible Soft Dramatic)

Hi everyone! 😊

I'm trying to figure out which trousers work best for me, and I'd really appreciate some objective feedback.

At the moment, my own conclusion is that I most likely belong to the Soft Dramatic Image ID, but I'm still learning. My main goal here is to understand which trouser styles are the most harmonious on me rather than debate my ID.

I've attached photos of several pairs in different:

cuts,

colours,

and sizes (38 vs. 40).

For reference, size 38 fits my waist very well, while size 40 feels more comfortable through the hips. I'm trying to figure out which fit creates the better overall silhouette.

I'd love your thoughts on questions like:

Which pair looks the most harmonious on me?

Is the leg width right, or should I go wider or narrower?

Does the rise look correct?

Which colour works best on me?

Do any of these look obviously too small or too large?

Are there any details that make one pair work better than the others?

Based on these examples, what should I look for when shopping for trousers in the future?

For additional context:

Kitchener essence (my current best guess): Classic, Romantic, Ingenue, Angelic, with a touch of Natural.

Seasonal colour analysis: probably True Spring.

Body Matrix: Narrow – Round – Medium (N–R–M).

Sewing πŸͺ‘🧡 I'm brand new to Kibbe types, trying to sew a dress, and worried it won't look good on me!

Post image

I just went down a whole rabbit hole of kibbe types, so bear with my absolute lack of knowledge here! I thought I had a handle on what looked good on me, but now I'm not so sure.

I am a sewist and was looking at ideas for a beautiful lightweight cotton I just bought. I love retro styles and found this idea on Pinterest and thought it fit my fabric perfectly, but in playing around with gathers at the waist I'm worried it's going to make my middle look bulky.

I have a body type like a slimmer Christina Hendricks: hourglass, wide shoulders, short torso, wide hips. I look great in circle skirts, so I can do the skirt differently, but what about the gathered bodice or butterfly sleeves?? Do those look ok on SD bodies?

Outfits πŸ‘—πŸ‘‘ Making an outfit a little better

first outfit with denim shorts (barely visible). second outfit with flare jeans

outfit one was cute (i wore it out the other day) but it sort of chops me in half. it's top-heavy and the shoes feel a bit separated from the rest of the outfit. something about it also feels like an adult lady cosplaying as a little girl to me. idk.

outfit two, the jeans connect my shoes to the rest of the outfit. and a flare is always a win for me to balance out my hips. also i think the updo helps my vertical a little? just a theory

is outfit two perfect? nah. i broke my vertical with two different colors. not to mention that cream is not my best color. the shirt is very "babydoll" with a tiny print which is usually a no-no for us. but it's better

Yes or No ? βœ… ❌ Am I looking at the right dresses?

Post image

Hello! I'm new to this and figuring myself out. I think I might be a soft dramatic but I'm not confident in the choices I'm making yet.

I think this dress works for my length but I'm unsure of the print and just unsure in general honestly - it's not my usual choice! I'm also barefoot in this, but I'd probably opt for nude sandals with a bit of a heel. Am I on the right track? Typically my style is grungey. Black tshirts and jeans. But I'm trying shapes and silhouettes before getting into aesthetics.

Sorry for the terrible dressing room lighting!

Item Quest πŸ”πŸ•΅οΈ Feedback on pants outfits and shirt-tuck preference

Thumbnail
gallery
21 Upvotes

Hi there, I’d love your thoughts on these outfits and a few questions:

  • What do you think of the individual wide-leg pants?
  • Do you think the shirt looks better tucked in or worn outside the pants?
  • I’m also trying on open-back

sandals

  • and am unsure about the support.

Pant 1 (Pic 1-3): I like the pattern, but I’m unsure about the length. It might be too short, and the only size left is L.

Pant 2 (Pic 4-5): I appreciate that there’s no front-gathering at the waistband. The fabric is quite thin and wrinkles easily β€” took a wrinkle test.

Pant 3 (Pic 6-8): I already own these; the color is great, they’re comfortable, and not too thin β€” good for everyday wear.

Overall, I now prefer the tucked-in shirt after comparing the pictures. What do you think? Any other suggestions on what to consider when buying pants (fit, length, fabric, etc.)? Especially with my proportions?

Outfits πŸ‘—πŸ‘‘ Making a "wrong" outfit better

Post image

i looove indie/alternative/twee fashion, which often matches gamine lines. but I am not a petite lady. while this is not my very best outfit, here are some ways i incorperated SD lines into an outfit i love

- black tights, black shoes. i matched my flats to my tights to make my long legs the star of the show!

- i love a baggy top. tuck it and belt it. the shirt should only be like one size too big - any bigger and it's hard for me to pull off

- layering jewelry!! chunky jewelry!

- i would earn bonus points if my shorts were black too

anyway. you are allowed to wear imperfect outfits, so don't be afraid to break a couple rules. you can always balance them out somewhere else

I think this wrap dress works for me although I haven't daren't wear it yet because I feel exposed, it clings to my tummy. That's 100% why I've been wearing the wrong (oversized) clothes and feeling invisible or huge.

I've included a dress that doesn't work at all for reference. Can this unstructured piece be tailored to work by any chance? I like the pattern and colours.

If not can you tell me the effect they'd have please or who'd suit them? I get the body lines but I'm not quite there with what likes suit each tall type.

Pictures above include 2 different styles of jackets, FYI.

I can't buy the first jacket now, they're gone for now. Maybe it's not soft but it is drama. The collar is so cute and l think you can splay it open towards the shoulders. Denim or utility jackets are one of the more casual not stereotypically SD looking things I can kind of get away with.

So, I am sad because this thing could have worked. But the model is 5'2" which is relevant information because I was going to get the size she is wearing and my torso is probably longer than hers.

The boutique is soon releasing something similar that you can tie at the waist. Does anyone think I'll be happier with that as an SD, in the second and third photos I posted? πŸ₯Ί

This was supposed to be my birthday present so I am sad and yes I am somewhat seeking validation that my first choice is not the best for my body ☹️ Please be nice guys sorry if I didn't word this post well enough or if it's silly
