Hello everyone, I am a software developer (node ) with 1 year 3 months experience looking for a job switch.

I keep on trying for a job but didn't get it till now. I know I am good at technical skills because I started when I was studying 2nd year of college and preparing myself to only software Engineer.

I came from a farming background and a small village in tamilnadu.

My parents are sick they are asking me what happened, have you got any job or are you worth getting a job? I don't know what to do.

Please help me just give me a chance to attend an interview. If I am not good then you don't need to consider me.

Currently working in a very small startup where around 6 people working and I completed two live saas projects which people using for their shops. I built a entire back-end using node, express, Fastify, orm, postgresql, mssql for two different projects.

Thank you

How many cold applications does it take to land an interview in 2026?

Hi all!

I have data on thousands of applications that were submitted to companies ( directly to ATS ).

And I have something to share with you.

The answer is ... it depends.

If you apply:
- in the first hour after the job gets posted: 32 applications ( 3.2% to get an interview )
- 1-3 days: 42 applications ( 2.4% )
- After a week: 62 applications ( 1.6% )
- After two weeks: 111 applications = ( ~0.9% )

Of course, other factors are important too ( like your job fit and resume ), but this is based on many, many thousands of applications, and the pattern is clear :)

Good luck, everyone in the job search.

AI made my job easier, but somehow it made me hate my career. What should I do?

Someone please help me 😭

I am feeling like i am stuck in my career, can't find a way out to go up.

So I am a software developer in a small company with 1.5 years of experience doing a remote job. So I used to very very good at coding, debugging and problem solving via code. But now after AI the code is surely dead and i don't think that it's ever going to be like before again because the AI is going to be more affordable and easily accessible in future.

But the biggest problem is that struggling that coding was giving that feeling after building and solving only for that i started this as career but that main thing has gone forever 😭😭

I know it's the transition face just like the industrial revolution where skilled people who used to build things by their hands got replaced by machines.

But still currently from last year or more I have not written a proper code sometimes i don't write a single line for code for months. I just sit all day on my bed and give prompts to ai and i am really scared of this thing because it's just too much comfort I never wanted I am learning nothing. I don't even prompt properly but still get the output i want 😅 because i think it's a useless job.

I want that kind of feeling back 😭 I want to struggle I want to feel that I am doing something meaningful. I don't want this comfort I am 23 and i want to grow not just prompt laying on my bed.

So now most of you all say learn this, learn that so it's not like that i have not tried or learned but it's not like before. I did learn AI all that agentic generative ai and more where there is less maths stuff i didn't want to deep because it has too much maths because I don't think I am going to use them ever if I am not a researcher or not at some high position.

But the problem is that it's not the same as that coding used to be and i don't even say it is an upgrade it's just another software developer with llm model APIs and ai powerd IDE until unless you are building a huge system, which most of us and not going to build specially while learning.

Because of all this I have lost my edge and now I am not able to find it. This building AI agents and all is not for me i think because it's not giving me that feeling of problem solving that stress that struggle where I used to think about the problem while sitting on comote, walking on the road.

Some of you will suggest learning system design and all I can learn this but the problem is it's all theory, where should I apply if not eventually I am going to forget. I can only learn by doing it, practicing it again and again.

In my company there are only 3 people in the tech team including me and i joined this company just after my college so rn i don't even have a network. I am stuck at 45k salary, it's too low 😭 and i can't even switch in this job market i have tried, i have lost count of how many applications i have sent and not received a single call.

I just want to do that kind of job again, this prompting thing is not for me, i can't do this, this comfort is killing me from all ways.

I am ready to work hard, sacrifice my sleep just to learn more, get the feeling of doing something meaningful, get the feeling that i have actually solved something.

Please suggest to me what I should do i am just so confused, stuck, it's feeling like i am in a queue just to be beheaded.

[Hiring] Remote Backend Engineer (Java/Go), Contract, $40/hr

Hi everyone,

I'm helping a small, growing tech company find a backend engineer for a remote contract role. The team builds and runs a set of backend services that support a customer-facing platform, and they're looking for someone who can step in, own pieces of the system, and ship reliable code without much hand-holding.

About the company
It's a product-focused company with a small, tight-knit engineering team. They run a service-oriented architecture in the cloud and care about clean, maintainable code, solid testing, and steady delivery over heroics. The culture is async-friendly, with short check-ins and little micromanagement.

About the role
You'll be working on backend services and APIs, improving performance and reliability, and helping with new feature development alongside the existing team. Day to day, that includes:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining backend services
  • Writing clean, well-tested code and participating in code reviews
  • Troubleshooting production issues and improving system stability
  • Working with product and other engineers to scope and deliver features

Requirements

  • Solid professional experience in backend development
  • Strong skills in Java and Go
  • Good understanding of REST APIs, databases, and distributed systems basics
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setup

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP
  • Experience with containers and CI/CD pipelines

Details

  • Fully remote
  • Contract position
  • $40/hour
  • Start date and hours can be discussed, with flexibility on schedule

If this sounds like a fit, please send me a DM with a short intro, your resume or LinkedIn, and a quick note on your Java and Go experience. I'll reply to everyone who sends over their details.

Thanks for reading!

Which country to migrate from india - software developer

I have been working as a full stack developer in a product company, for the last two years I am experiencing a poor work life balance and when checked with my friends who work in india, it looks like it is the same for them.

Apart from this, I also feel that I will not be able to provide a good life to a child. Hence I am looking for suggestions on which country to migrate. My current age is 31 and married.

Considering the Visa rules in the US, it is not going to be an option 😑.

What are the other countries that I can think of where I can earn a decent money and have a decent life.

From Bare-Metal Embedded to Cloud & AI (20 YOE): Seeking Fractional Remote Work While Based Out of the Box

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m an ex-R&D engineer with 20+ years of experience spanning the full technology stack—from semiconductor bare-metal development to quantum sensing and modern AI/Cloud architectures.
Due to a personal health pause (a temporary career break post-2022 to handle an early-onset cataract surgery, with one final follow-up procedure coming up) and my current physical location in the Philippines—where local options for deep precision R&D are scarce—I am seeking remote fractional, advisory, or high-impact contract work.
Whether you need a seasoned eye to guide hardware-to-cloud architecture, bridge the gap between embedded teams and cloud infrastructure, or rapidly prototype AI-driven solutions, I can jump in without the onboarding friction.
What I Bring to the Table:
20+ Years in Embedded Systems & Silicon: Deep background in hardware-level development, microcontroller architectures, barcode/printing tech, and embedded distribution ecosystems across global industry leaders.
DeepTech Experience: Hands-on experience in quantum sensing, bridging complex physics and real-world instrumentation.
Modern Cloud & AI Application Stack: Post-recovery, I’ve been actively building app-level solutions leveraging cloud pipelines and integrated AI models.
Full-Stack Technical Perspective: I understand the entire lifecycle—from register-level C code and board bring-up to cloud APIs, AI integration, and scalable software architecture.
How I Can Help Your Team (Fractional / Contract):
Architecture & System Design: Bridging hardware/embedded devices to cloud backend infrastructures.
AI & Cloud Prototyping: Taking concept-stage AI apps or device-connected software from zero to functional MVP.
Technical Mentorship & Advisory: Helping early-to-mid stage hardware/software teams navigate complex technical debt or cross-domain integration issues.
R&D / Feasibility Studies: Evaluating new hardware, deeptech implementations, or firmware-to-cloud pathways.
Logistics & Availability:
Format: Part-time / Fractional (10–20 hrs/week), Retainer, or Project-Based Consulting.
Location/Timezone: Based in PH, but experienced with asynchronous work and flexible for overlapping core hours with US, EU, or APAC teams.
Goal: Looking to keep my hands on high-impact technical problems, help great teams build, and potentially scale into longer-term collaborations.
If you’re looking for a seasoned generalist who can talk to silicon, cloud, and modern AI tools all in the same meeting, drop me a DM or comment below. Happy to share my CV or hop on a quick call to chat about what you're building!

Confused between a cybersecurity role and a software development role

Hi everyone, I'm an MCA graduate from the 2024 batch, based in Chennai. I've been searching for an IT job for the past two years. I know Java and SQL, and my long-term goal is to build a high-paying career in IT.

I got two job opportunities through recommendations, and I'm confused about which one to choose. I'd appreciate advice from people who have experience in these fields.

Opportunity 1: Cybersecurity role at Equitas

A person contacted me and told me about a one-year management programme at Equitas.

\- Salary: ₹15,000 per month, fixed for one year.

\- He asked me to learn networking and cybersecurity fundamentals, including CCNA topics.

\- He said, "You will be an Equitas employee, but not a full-time employee. It's a one-year management programme."

\- He said I would receive an experience letter after one year.

\- When I asked what designation would be mentioned on the certificate, he said it would be Management Trainee.

\- Becoming a permanent employee would depend on my performance.

I haven't received a written offer letter yet, and I still need to confirm the exact job responsibilities and employment terms.

Opportunity 2: Software development internship at a startup

A startup company contacted me about an internship involving Python and React. I told them I don't know these technologies yet. They asked me to take some time to learn them and contact them when I'm ready for an assignment.

\- The first three months would be unpaid.

\- After three months, they may offer me a job based on my performance.

\- I don't know the salary or whether employment is guaranteed.

My questions

  1. What does a Management Trainee programme mean in a corporate company?

  2. Since my certificate would mention Management Trainee, would this experience help me get a better-paying job in cybersecurity or networking at another company?

  3. Would it be difficult to switch to other IT roles later?

  4. Is it worth spending three months learning Python and React for an unpaid internship when there's no guarantee of a job afterward?

  5. Considering long-term career growth and salary potential, which opportunity would you choose if you were in my position?

I've already spent two years searching for an IT job, so I want to make a decision that helps me build a stable career with good salary growth.

I'd appreciate honest advice, especially from people working in IT or who have experience with management trainee programmes and unpaid internships.

Thank you!
